Description
The Department for Income Support, consisting of Disability Determination Services and Child Support Enforcement are looking for an outstanding, knowledgeable Child Support Specialist III in the Central Processing Section.
To be successful as a Child Support Specialist III, candidates should be professional, polite, always prepared to meet challenges/deadlines, willing to help others, goal setter and have expert knowledge of program. Child Support Specialist III’s must be efficient with Child Support program knowledge, computers, excellent customer service skills, writing skills and organized.
Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Interprets sections of policy and procedures in the area of returned deposit items to contracting officials, clients, and employers. Performs duties necessary for received payments including scanning payments to the State Disbursement Unit (SDU) using RICPAY (Remote Image Capture Payment system) and returned deposit items. Update case events accordingly.
  • Responsible for opening, closing, maintaining, and monitoring new and existing Non-IVD/private cases.
  • Work and run reports on Non-IVD/private cases in the KASES system as needed through the Business Intelligence system. Maintain spreadsheets associated with the tracking of returned deposit items and other spreadsheets as required.
  • Completes monthly reports as it relates to the Processing and Distribution Branch.
  • Assists in responding to requests from clients, government officials, absent parents, and agency staff.
  • Monitors payments and identifies cases in which the payor is delinquent with payments.
  • Maintains case information in the child support system and determines the proper distribution of child support, and collections received by the department.
  • Assists in the preparation of forms related to the initiation of support and paternity laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent computer skills

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Must complete two years (54 semester hours) from a college or university.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of experience in child support enforcement.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Administrative work, clerical office work, work dealing directly with the public, or experience in reviewing, monitoring, determining eligibility for, and/or administering Food Stamps, the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program, Medical Assistance, Child Support, or other public assistance programs will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
