Description
The Department for Income Support, consisting of Disability Determination Services and Child Support Enforcement is looking for an outstanding Child Support Specialist II in the Administrative Enforcement Section.
To be successful as a Child Support Specialist II, candidates should be professional, polite, always prepared to meet challenges/deadlines, willing to help others, be a goal setter and have knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement program. Child Support Specialist II’s must also be efficient, have computer skills, provide excellent customer service, have writing skills and be well organized.
Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Under direction, performs basic child support activities. Interacts with customers and other agencies to facilitate the delivery of child support services. Interprets child support policies and procedures for basic inquiries for local office staff, customers, and other agencies. Reviews Child Support Reports and Cases to determine and initiate proper administrative enforcement action.
  • Reviews wage and benefit information reports to determine the type of Administrative Enforcement action needed to be taken against non-custodial parents; such as garnishments, intercept, suspension of licenses.
  • Monitors Child Support Cases and Administrative Enforcement Actions initiated for Compliance and follow up action when needed to determine to reinstatement of licensees, intercepts, and garnishments.
  • Interprets Child Support Policies and procedures, federal and state laws and regulations for the proper Administrative Enforcement Action and to the appropriate parties.
  • Attends on-going formal classroom training to enhance job performance as well as on the job training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Must complete two years (54 semester hours) from a college or university.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of experience in child support enforcement programs.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Administrative work, clerical office work, work dealing directly with the public , or experience in reviewing, monitoring, determining eligibility for, and/or administering Food Stamps, the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program, Medical Assistance, Child Support, or other public assistance programs will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
