The Fire Alarm Technician responsibilities will include:
  • Read and understand basic BAS drawings
  • Can bend pipe and do basic algebra.
  • Can pull wire.
  • Field Device terminations
    • Be able to follow a wiring schematic.
    • Wire up Multiple different devices.
  • Basic Installation Methods
    • Wall Rough, Overhead Runs.
    • Using Reflected Ceiling Plans (RCP) to optimize raceway install.
    • Basic construction techniques to ID potential install conflicts.
    • Cable management.
    • Basic Com and power install.
  • Understanding how to use multi-meter
    • Measure AC, DC voltage
    • Measure continuity and resistance
    • How to layout circuitry for cable pulls
  • Terminations of Fire Alarm devices
    • Understand the basic submittals
    • Understand how to trim with walking back from last device and check for QAQC after each term.
  • Conduit rough-in
  • Understand different systems and their requirements specific to their submittals and devices.
    • Simplex, Honeywell, Siemens, Notifier
    • Wire Color codes, types.
    • Symbols, Code requirements
  • Active Listening, note taking and critical thinking.
    • Record Data, Communicate photos and Redlines
  • Understands and can define normally open and normally closed devices.
  • Understand Series and parallel circuit wiring.
  • Basic understanding of code.
  • Identify hazards and write up observation reports.
  • Complete daily update log and project status
  • Develop exceptional customer focus
  • Ability to maintain awareness of their surroundings
  • Ability to meet the needs of the project manager, foreman and superintendent
  • Assist managers with weekly review of job status
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in the fire alarm industry
  • Basic computer skills
  • Have NICET level 1 and or above
  • Team player
  • Able to multi-task and adapt to changing demands
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience with high volume workload while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
  • Obtain OSHA thirty certification
  • Fire Alarm Technicians will be responsible for providing basic hand tools
  • The ability to work under pressure
