Job Summary
The Director of Nursing (DoN) is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating the activities of an assigned nursing division. Supervises nurse managers, formulates goals, recommends budget, and performs administrative activities to ensure effective patient care. Represents nursing as appropriate on leadership committees within the clinical department.
The DoN has a direct reporting relationship to the Vice President of Patient Care Services. The DoN also has accountability to the physician Chairman of the department on issues related to patient satisfaction, safety, quality, care management, clinical program growth, medical education and research. The DoN collaborates with the department administrator and medical directors of clinical units as appropriate.
