John Mills Electric is Hiring an Administrative Assistant - Accounting Near Elmira, NY

John Mills Electric is a well-established electrical contracting company that employs approximately 150 employees in the Southern Tier Region of Upstate New York. The company is headquartered in Elmira Heights, and has been in business since 1946.

This Position:

The Title and Salary Level of this position will be commensurate with experience level and role assignment(s) of the selected candidate. Medical benefits are potentially available for this position, as well as 401K. This position requires that the candidate be located in Chemung County, NY (or within reasonable driving distance to the company headquarters in Elmira Heights, NY), and that they be in the office on a daily basis.

This Administrative Assistant position is responsible for performing multiple tasks in support of daily company operations.

The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of general office administration experience. An associate’s degree in a business discipline or a related discipline would be preferred. Any related experience in construction administration would be a plus.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Perform Clerical Duties as Required
  • Process Accounts Payable Invoices
  • Process Accounts Receivable Invoices
  • Answer Office Telephone Calls
  • Interact Cordially and Effectively with Customers and Fellow Employees
  • Perform Payroll-Related Functions as Required
  • Assist Project Managers as needed (i.e., administrative tasks, ordering materials, arranging meetings, tracking issues, etc…)
  • Follow Company Best Practices

Prerequisites:

This position requires an associate's degree or equivalent work experience in business or related field, with at least one year of experience in a similar or related role. Knowledge of construction administration would be desirable. Additionally, John Mills Electric requires drug, alcohol, criminal and financial background checks.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines.

Working Conditions:

Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typical of most office environments. Travel, evening and weekend hours may be necessary from time to time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
