ITG Communications is Hiring an Assistant Controller Near Fort Lauderdale, FL
The Assistant Controller provides assistance to the Finance Executive team in managing the accounting operations of the organization. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting and finance activities including but not limited to, primary interface with auditors, research GAAP issues and assure compliance, treasury and M&A support.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close, including monthly Finance and Operations report.
- Ensure the monthly and quarterly bank compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Work with the Accounting Staff and External Auditors to ensure a clean and timely year end audit
- Review and enhance existing procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department, from daily billing, payroll, fleet, insurance, etc.
- Assure internal controls are functioning effectively
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Typically requires a bachelor's degree and three (3) years of public accounting experience and/or five (5) years of private industry experience Accounting degree preferred but not required. Must have proven experience in accounts payable and a good understanding of assets and accounting principles.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, sit – 6-8 hours daily
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
