Qualifications


The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for the management and oversight of all activities required to develop and close sales opportunities in the assigned region. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in the iron and steel industry coupled with exceptional sales skills. This role requires the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to clients while also understanding their business needs to provide tailored solutions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and drive the internal development and final submission of all Commercial and Technical proposals.
  • Establish and maintain a strong relationship of trust with all existing clients within the assigned region on both the Executive and Operational levels.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to ensure client satisfaction and retention.
  • Manage client expectations associated with all sales deliverables.
  • Technical Expertise: Possess a thorough understanding of iron and steel technologies, products, and industry regulations. Provide technical guidance and assistance to clients to address their specific needs and requirements.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive threats, and growth opportunities within the iron and steel industry. Utilize findings to adapt sales strategies and stay ahead of the competition.
  • Manage all partner and local agent relationships throughout project development.
  • Manage the development and delivery of the Technical Specification in collaboration with the Proposal group.
  • Take overall responsibility for the accuracy and timely completion of the Cost Estimate.
  • Develop all commercial pricings - working closely with the Senior Key Account Manager and/or the VP - Commercial.
  • Understand all steel industry developments within the assigned region to ensure that Midrex is included in any new plant sales opportunity as early as possible.
  • Recognize the Clients key project budgeting and decision factors required to move a project forward and work to ensure that the Midrex offering supports those requirements.
  • Negotiations and Contracts: Interface with legal department to negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with clients while ensuring that all agreements comply with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Develop and maintain techno/commercial schedules and milestones for all projects.
  • Generate reports as required to keep Executive Management informed of sales activities.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, projects, procurement, legal and finance to ensure seamless coordination and execution of sales initiatives. Foster a collaborative environment to drive overall business success.
  • Prepare and give presentations on Midrex technology to prospective clients, consultants, and project partners.
  • Prepare/present papers and attend conferences and seminars in support of Midrex commercial activities.
  • Maintain close contact with Midrex R&D and technology development groups to keep informed on new developments within the company/industry.

Skills/Abilities:

Required:

  • Strong technical knowledge of iron and steel products, processes, and applications.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple sales opportunities and projects.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels..
  • Excellent writing and oral presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally, sometimes for extended periods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (preferred), Business Administration or Marketing.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a technical sales role or Midrex experience.
  • International sales experience, preferred.
  • Experience in a Direct Reduction or mining and metals/steel related environment, preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • 25% - 35% International and Domestic based on project demands

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of travel across multiple segment flights.
