Are you a self-motivated construction Estimator looking for career advancement? Our client is a commercial construction firm focused on steel- and stick-framed construction and development opportunities in the greater Raleigh-Durham/Triangle and surrounding areas of North Carolina.
As a construction estimator, you will be responsible for analyzing project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to determine the costs involved in labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracting services. You will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure the accuracy and feasibility of project estimates. Additionally, you may be involved in preparing bids and proposals for potential clients.
Key Responsibilities:
    • Project Analysis: Review and analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project scope, requirements, and timelines.
    • Cost Estimation: Calculate and prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracting services, based on project specifications and industry standards.
    • Quantity Takeoff: Perform quantity takeoffs by measuring and quantifying materials and resources required for construction, ensuring accurate calculations and estimations.
    • Vendor and Supplier Relations: Research and source potential vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
    • Cost Database Maintenance: Maintain and update a cost database of materials, labor rates, and equipment costs to ensure the accuracy and currency of cost estimation.
    • Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis by comparing estimated costs with actual costs incurred during construction projects to identify areas of improvement and enhance estimating accuracy.
    • Bid and Proposal Preparation: Collaborate with project teams to prepare bids and proposals, ensuring that all estimates, project timelines, and deliverables are accurately presented.
    • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify project requirements, address inquiries, and provide necessary cost-related information.
    • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other team members to ensure effective project planning and cost management.
Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
    • Proven experience as a construction estimator or in a similar role.
    • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
    • Proficiency in using construction estimating software and tools.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
$80,000 - $110,000 a year
