Title: Quality Manager
Reports to: CEO
Department: Quality
FLSA: Salary Exempt
Summary of Position:
Reviews manufacturing instructions or procedures for completeness, correctness, and comprehension by production/assembly workers. Audits processes performed by workers relative to methods, tools, ability to follow manufacturing instructions. May determine frequency and allowable variations from specifications at various stages of the manufacturing process. Investigates and recommends alternatives to products designs or manufacturing methods to ensure quality. May generate inspection plans, reporting formats, or performance indicators for specific process areas.
Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Create and manage U.S. PPAP process/package including the ability to complete all necessary forms and documentation.
- Develop and implement new quality control plan/systems
- Responsible for the inspections according to the quality management system/control plans /agreements with customers
- Take corrective action if the customer’s agreed quality aims cannot be met
- Oversee all internal/external audit administration as it relates to quality; responsible for the execution of the product audit, short audits, as well as process and system audits according to specified requirements.
- Decisions regarding the inspection status according to the quality management system
- Responsible for data administration and archiving of quality documents, samples and measurement instruments
- Determination of preventive measurements to assure quality with production, managements and project teams
- Responsible for TS 16949 certification and process
- Work on cross-functional team through a PFMEA review and create/finalize the PFMEA
- Initiate and perform capability studies and be able to interpret the results
- Interface with CMM operators on how to measure the components and assemblies and fill out the proper dimensional PPAP forms
- Understand the customer requirements for testing and ability to interpret and fill out the proper PPAP forms
- Initiate GR&R/MSA studies and able to interpret the results
- Understand injection mold processes and able to create work instructions and possibly process flow diagrams
- Interface with customers’ Quality Engineers with questions/issues and get resolution
- Able to read and interpret product and engineering drawings
- Understand part functions and the ability to create GD&T schemes based on those understandings and interface those ideas with the customer
- Understand GD&T and be able to interpret CMM reports
- Understanding of gauges and use the created GD&T schemes to build them
- Interface with gauge builders to create gauges and follow up on them through build and completion
- Ability to review parts and make determinations if they are acceptable by meeting the defined quality standards
- Visit and engage with customers and suppliers to build and maintain positive relationships, troubleshoot and resolve tool and product issues, participate in color and harmony meetings, discuss quality and engineering changes, improvements, developments and implementation.
- Maintain knowledge on current quality topics and trends in the automotive and seating industry.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with all members of management, team members, support departments & suppliers in order to collaborate toward company objectives and goals.
- Perform personnel functions such as selection, training, evaluations, and coaching actions as needed.
- Prepare staff work schedules and assign specific duties.
- Uphold and follow requirements of Quality policies and standards, such as, ISO 9001, TS16949, IATF16949
- Attend all required training as assigned.
- Comply with and promote company practices and policies in all areas including Safety, Standards of Conduct, Quality, Performance, and Communication.
- Be flexible in work to support continuous improvement activities that will ensure personal and company growth.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering; Master’s degree preferred; or equivalent experience
- Six Sigma Certification preferred
- ASQ CMQ/OE preferred
Working Experience Required:
- 10 years of experience in automotive manufacturing
- OEM experience preferred
- Must have at least 5 years’ progressive leadership experience in a quality/manufacturing environment
- Automotive seat manufacturing experience is a plus
- Experience with green field start up organizations
Technical Skills Required:
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various good.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
- Knowledge and understanding Six Sigma principles
- Strong knowledge of quality systems including QS9000, ISO9001, ISO/TS16949, IATF16949, continuous improvement, Kaizen, 5-S, lean manufacturing, TPS
- Understanding Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodology and the ability to manage and administer all elements
- Concrete understanding and application of fundamentals of GD&T
- Able to read spectrometer results
- Excellent planning, negotiating, and organizing skills.
- Good judgment.
- Must be a team player and work well with others in process development, corrective action and problem solving
- Excellent ability to analyze and operated both systematically and logically
- Ability to have a strong focus, patience, self-confidence and professionalism
- Proven experience with complex data and problem analysis, root cause techniques, and solution
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills, with an emphasis on being proactive
- Positively interact, motivate, and influence people of diverse cultural backgrounds and with all levels employee, customer, vendors
- Must have effective oral and written communication skills with all levels employee, customer, vendors
- Must be proficient using MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint; SAP experience a plus

- Ability to work extended hours, overtime and/or weekends as required
The employee generally works in warehouse and indoor office environments but occasionally works outside, in all types of weather and on uneven terrain.
