Job Description –

HW&Co. is currently PROSPECTING for a Staff Accountant for our Audit and Advisory department in our Columbus, OH office, with a start date sometime in 2025. Staff Accountants are responsible for routine assignments within their area of specialization, and report to Senior Accountants and Managers. They ensure financial compliance through the preparation of client reports and statements within the A&A department.

Obtain a working knowledge of accounting and tax research techniques

Obtain a working knowledge of the preparation of Medicaid and Medicare cost reports

Understand accounting and auditing standards and keep current with new standards

Understand and abide by the rules, regulations, and code of conduct of the AICPA

Perform the following audit procedures:

• Vouch journal entries to supporting documents
• Reconcile bank accounts
• Prepare depreciation schedules and financial statements
• Post adjustments to the working trial balance
• Observe inventories
• Analyze accruals

Perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications –

• 0-3 years of public accounting experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• CPA eligible or CPA license
• Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy
• Great verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and time management
• The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
• The ability to interact with clients and employees of all levels of the Firm
