Coborn's, Inc. also owns and operates liquor stores under the Coborn's Liquor, Cash Wise Liquor, Andy’s Liquor and Captain Jack's brands. Additionally, our fuel and convenience division, pharmacy, in-house grocery warehouse and distribution center, in-house Central Bakery, in-house Fresh Foods Commissary, and Tops Cleaners are significant assets to our operations. We also have a handful of other retail entities in the markets where the fit is right: Little Dukes, Ace Hardware, Country Floral Gifts & Greenhouse, Caribou Coffee, Dunn Bros Coffee, and Erbert and Gerbert's.

Overview

The primary focus of this position is to serve as a resource and partner to retail leadership and employees on all aspects of human resources. The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) is responsible for partnering with retail leadership in all areas of compliance/risk, talent acquisition, employee relations, training and development, safety, leave administration and other people related tasks while supporting Coborn’s Vision Mission and Core Values.

  • Acts as a liaison between employees, leadership and the Support Center. Involvement includes communicating, supporting and driving awareness and buy-in on new programs and initiatives, policies and procedures. Build strong partnerships with store leadership and employees. Establishes and maintains relationships with managers to stay abreast of current and future employee relations issues to help prevent potential employee relation problems.
  • Advises, recommends and partners with leadership regarding personnel practices, policies and procedures and employment laws. Knowledge of all employment law and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations for all human resources practices, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Affirmative Action, Americans with Disabilities Act, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, Harassment, I9 compliance, etc.
  • Provides on-going training and development on various programs and systems such as; Talent Management System, Applicant Tracking and Onboarding System, Hire Right, career development, succession planning and compensation philosophy.
  • Conducts investigations into concerns/complaints brought forward by employees. Advises, recommends and partners with leaders in determining proper corrective actions and employment decisions.
  • Supports store leadership with talent acquisition efforts, implementing recognition/retention/recruitment strategies, sourcing, interviewing, managing the applicant tracking and onboarding system (ATS). Ensures fair and consistent recruitment practices.
  • Establishes, assembles and reviews records, reports and documentation of Performance Coaching Action Plans, and safety concerns and submits to corporate HR on effective date.
  • Create and facilitate training programs, presentations, and documented procedures to increase the knowledge, skills and abilities of all employees and leadership in compliance with company, state, or federal laws.
  • Review, track and report on various HR metrics to determine focus areas.
Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field preferred.
  • 2-3 years Human Resource or related experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Possess a current state driver’s license and valid insurance with the ability to travel to business locations as needed.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.

Computer Skills

  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and email systems.
  • Working knowledge and experience with HRIS systems.
