Public Education & Business Coalition (PEBC) is a Colorado-based 501(c)3 organization that provides professional development services for practicing educators, locally and nationally, and operates the PEBC Teacher Residency program that trains well-qualified new teachers for high-needs schools. THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and managing accounts payable and receivable. This role involves close collaboration with various organizational stakeholders to ensure timely processing of payments and supports regular financial reporting and audits. The Senior Accounting Manager reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

This is a full-time position based in Denver, CO in a hybrid work environment.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Manage a bookkeeper in all accounting operations, ensuring accurate recordkeeping of all company transactions and including the processing of regular tax filings
  • Manage all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables, performing all necessary follow up, tracking, reporting and balancing
  • Collaborate with multiple individuals throughout the organization to ensure all independent contractors, scholarship recipients, stipend recipients and vendor payments are submitted accurately and in a timely manner
  • Monitor the Operating Account and record all transactions, both physical and electronic
  • Reconcile all accounts, including bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor invoices
  • Process bi-monthly payroll through payroll system, including reconciliation of benefits payments
  • Administer employee billing, including expense reports and approvals
  • Implement new and streamline existing processes, which may include automation
  • Prepare monthly financial and ad hoc reports compiled from various data sources
  • Liaise with external auditors during financial audits, preparing documentation and assisting CFO with all audit requirements
  • Promote PEBC’s work with various networks to generate revenue in service of the Vision and Mission

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION

  • CPA or comparable combination of relevant college degree, certification, and experience
  • Five years of experience in a nonprofit organization
  • Five years of experience in grant accounting
  • Comfort with accounting standards and government regulations
    • GAAP, FASB, 2 CFR Part 200 (Grants and Agreements), Federal Uniform Guidance
  • Must be able to be in-person regularly at our Denver, CO office.

WHAT OUR ORGANIZATION IS PROVIDING

  • Expected annual salary range of $95,000 - $110,000 depending on experience and education. PEBC is committed to offering competitive and equitable compensation commensurate with experience and education.
