POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs professional and senior technical level administrative support work under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Performs support tasks essential to the successful operation of the Office of County Auditor. Work involves a significant amount of data collection and maintenance, analysis preparation of ad hoc reports and requires a high level of skill and advanced technical knowledge and the ability to navigate standard and non-standard computer software programs independently. Frequent contact with the County Council, County Officials, employees and the public.
***This position serves in a confidential capacity within the definition of Howard County labor relations law and is ineligible for membership in a collective bargaining unit.***
STARTING SALARY HIRING RANGE:
$28.42 - $34.05
$59,109 - $70,831

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Record, prepare, and distribute minutes of meetings for Office of County Auditor.
Edit written materials, such as legislative fiscal analysis, budget analysis, and memorandums for dissemination to the County Council.
Edit, compile, publish, and distribute the annual Budget Analysis prior to County Council work sessions.
Assist Office of County Auditor staff with special projects.
Assist as required with preparation of a quarterly budget analysis by using information from SAP and the Budget System.
Review correspondence prepared by others for County Auditor's signature.
Prepares internal and external correspondence as required by Office of County Auditor staff. Organize and maintain meeting materials for the County Auditor and Deputy County Auditors.
Organize and maintain the County Auditor's legislative binders.
Maintain the County Auditor's webpage.
Organize, schedule and maintain appointment calendar for the County Auditor.
Schedule and arrange registrations and reservations for conferences and training for Office of County Auditor.
Take care of logistics for conferences, seminars and official leave requests.
Schedules meetings and maintains calendar for Office of County Auditor.
Authorized to make minor purchases with procurement card.
Process forms, such as expense vouchers, travel approval, and other documents in accordance with County and Council policies.
Process bi-weekly payroll for Office of County Auditor. Maintain record of leave requests, confirm leave balance calculation and submit payroll adjustments under the direction of County Auditor.
Maintain required recordkeeping of Continuing Professional Education training and certification for Office of County Auditor.
Develop systems for recordkeeping, retrieval and storage of information.
Department's representative for the Records Information Management (RIM) system.
Maintains Continuity of Operations (COOP) plan.
Maintains record retention schedule – RIM system.
Point person for RECALL documents.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree and four (4) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS, MATHEMATICAL SKILLS AND REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
