POSITION SUMMARY:

The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for advancing the mission of the Houston Food Bank (HFB) by providing strategic management of the organization’s digital presence, with a primary focus on social media and content support for web. This position writes and creates quality digital content and drives engagement across HFB's social media platforms and website to optimize the organization’s digital footprint. The Digital Marketing Specialist will also play an active role in planning and implementing the strategic development of the HFB’s digital presence, including data reporting and analyzing metrics, supporting digital fundraising efforts with direct marketing vendors, assisting cross-departmental teams in developing ideas to meet goals, and identifying new opportunities to increase brand awareness.

*Candidates will be required to provide social media work samples.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Overall Digital Marketing

  1. Provides support in the implementation of overall digital marketing strategies using all necessary tools (e.g. website, emails, social media, and blogs).
  2. Researches products, services, and current strategies to identify new opportunities.
  3. Liaises with HFB departments to optimize brand awareness and mission.
  4. Stays up to date with digital technology developments.
  5. Supports online fundraising initiatives.
  6. Monitors the digital landscape and provides suggestions for improvement.
  7. Collects metrics and data for ROI and KPI measurements.
  8. Manages third-party online platform profiles in support of brand awareness and donor stewardship. Additionally, lead content sourcing from leadership and other teams to ensure requirements are fulfilled on charity evaluator sites, such as Charity Navigator and GuideStar, and accurate data representation on sites such as Wikipedia and Google Business.
  9. Represents the voice of HFB online with the primary responsibility of daily content creation.
  10. Manages the social media for the organization including the primary platforms of Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and others.
  11. Monitors HFB-related content on social media sites in support of HFB’s reputational management strategy.
  12. Builds strong audience engagement through social media interaction as well as provides resource support and answers to common questions.
  13. Keeps up to date with HFB’s audience preferences and proactively suggests new campaigns.
  14. Maintains comprehensive content calendar in collaboration with marketing communications team, digital marketing manager, online giving coordinator and other departments as necessary.
  15. Brainstorms and plans social media marketing campaigns with creative growth strategies, including reporting on social media metrics.
  16. Maintains peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives through partner or industry collaborations on social media.
  17. Participates in leadership meetings as needed, identifies advertising needs and monitors social media performance.
  18. Captures photos and videos for social media and provides support in the absence of photographer and videographer.
  19. Writes, designs, and maintains websites utilizing a marketing conversion funneling method.
  20. Lends support around search engine optimization (SEO) strategy to increase traffic to the HFB site.
  21. Helps oversee and project manage annual website audit for continued site health.
  22. Reviews, edits, and/or provides content support for all e-communications to ensure strong brand representation.
  23. Supports other HFB departments in their e-communication efforts including the implementation and management of content review processes and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a closely related field
  • 3 years of related experience in the social media landscape (not including internships)
  • Proficiency in and understanding of social media platforms

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
