Job Summary:
Hotel Ulysses is seeking an experienced and highly organized Sales & Events Manager to join our team. You will be responsible for selling, coordinating, and executing a wide range of events, including meetings, weddings, and social gatherings at Swann House, our new event space, in Ash Bar and Blooms. You will also coordinate our Food Truck activations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in event planning and management, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Responsibilities:

• Pro-actively pursue event and catering sales and respond to all incoming leads
• Develop additional revenue-generating services (e.g.rentals)
• Maintain and improve sales materials
• Balance revenue generation with the need for the hotel to continue being a superlative host to non-event hotel guests and a courteous neighbor on the block
• Plan and execute events from start to finish, including budgeting, venue selection, vendor management, logistics coordination, and on-site event management
• Collaborate with clients to understand their event objectives and requirement
• Develop event timelines and ensure all deadlines are met
• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure smooth execution of events
• Negotiate contracts with venues, suppliers, and other service providers
• Work closely with Culinary Team and F&B Managers as well as the hotel’s operations teams
• Manage event budgets and track expenses
• Provide exceptional customer service to clients throughout the event planning process
• Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement

STAFF MANAGEMENT (only during events – the rest of the time you don’t manage others)

• Schedule staff for prep and events
• Delegate and reinforce the responsibilities of production, service, maintenance and hygiene
• Ensure event staff is provided with necessary information to prepare and serve food & beverage
• Ensure staff complies with company policies and coach as needed

Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Event Manager or similar role
- Strong knowledge of event planning principles and best practices
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in using event management software/tools
- Ability to negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers
- Knowledge of event marketing strategies is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field is preferred

COMPENSATION DETAILS

• $65,000 annual base salary, paid weekly, plus 3% commission on events and F&B gross revenue Health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 75% employer-sponsored
