Basic Function

HF Sinclair in Dallas, Tx is seeking a Vice President, Tax, who will lead our Tax function in all areas, including foreign/domestic tax planning and research, compliance with domestic and foreign tax laws and regulations (including U.S. tax consequences related to foreign operations).

Job Duties

• Serves as a senior leader and advisor for the company while managing a high-functioning tax team that supports all the HF Sinclair business segments and operations
• Provides functional leadership to the organization as well as forward-thinking initiatives for the Company to accomplish objectives and improve service, revenue, and profit, which may include organizational restructuring, process reengineering, technological enhancements, and adaptability to changing business and regulatory environments
• Oversees and directs strategic projects
• Provides clarity and insightful tax analysis and advice to inform tactical and strategic decisions for
• Consults as an advisor and provides tax direction on, including but not limited to: income tax planning and filings, Corporate pass-through structures, tax incentives, financial and tax audits, indirect tax compliance and administration, internally developed tax systems, shareholder activity, and HF Sinclair charitable activity
• Identifies and implements continual improvements within tax processes, teaming, and organization
• Continually monitor tax trends and assess the impact/level of risk exposure on the business
• Attracts and develop top talent for the right roles and maintains our company’s culture as we grow
• Builds close working relationships with senior business leaders, serves as a strategic tax thought partner, and educates colleagues on tax topics/concepts
• Consult as an advisor and strategic business partner with business and financial leadership teams to set long-term strategic direction and operating plans

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of 15 years of progressive international tax compliance and/or tax accounting experience is required.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

Preferred Education:

A master’s degree and a CPA certification.

Required Skills

• Ability to lead and direct the work of other management associates
• Proficient with spreadsheet and word processing applications; good interpersonal, and decision-making skills Expert in tax audit procedures and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) coordination/procedures including related field of state income tax
• ability to plan, organize and direct complex tax and accounting programs, to set up accounting systems, to interpret laws and regulations and apply highly advanced accounting and tax theory
• Strong organizational skills; advanced leadership, effective delegation, negotiation, and forward-thinking skills; Ability to communicate effectively with others, both written and verbal communication, and across multiple department lines and manage third-party locations
• Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations.
• Proficiency in various programs such as Microsoft Office, Alteryx, BI tools, and SAP is a plus.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Responsible for the direct supervision of multiple managerial positions.

Work Conditions

Office-based with travel up to 20% of the time
