We’re currently looking for a Full Time Nanny in Jersey City.

A lovely family in Downtown Jersey City (near Grove Street PATH train and Pavonia/Newport Light Rail stop) is looking for a full time nanny for their three children, 4 years, 2 years, and 5 months. Mom works from home and is hoping to find an experienced, organized, fun nanny who is comfortable being a self-starter, but also willing to collaborate with mom on details such as schedule, meal planning, and other aspects of care.

  • Schedule: M-F 8am-6pm & Saturday 8am-1pm -occasionally schedule will be adjusted to accommodate longer hours throughout the week and less/no hours on Saturday (advance notice will be provided)
  • Very rarely (maybe 2-4 times per year) the family may need overnight care due to parents traveling for work - overnight care will be paid in addition to regular weekly salary and rate will be determined between family and nanny directly - advance notice will be provided for overnight needs
  • Start date: Beginning the first week of June, mom will start back to work on a reduced schedule, so care will be needed, but schedule will not be full time (as advertised above) until the first week of July
  • Long term
  • 3 children - 4 years, 2 years, 5 months
  • Rate: $1375/week - will be paid via payroll

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively engage children in developmental activities (e.g., reading, games, art, songs) and take children outside to play daily when weather permits
  • Transport children to and from school (one PreK4, one toddler) - walking with stroller, no more than 10-15 minute walk
  • Plan & cook healthy meals (lunch) and snacks (morning & afternoon) for children
  • Collaborate with parents to evolve children’s daily schedule as they grow (e.g., naps, meals) and implement it accordingly
  • Keep areas and items used by children (e.g., kitchen, living room, kids’ bedrooms) clean and tidy
  • Wash and put away children’s laundry

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 years of experience working with multiple children aged 0-5 at once (including an infant) - 1 year in home nanny experience a must
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • CPR First Aid certified or willing to become certified
  • Valid photo identification for screening and background check purposes (after meeting the family)
  • Up to date on all vaccinations (including COVID boosters, tdap, and flu)
  • Comfort with sleep training (infant through dropping naps completely) and introducing solids; willingness to record start/end time of infant’s naps throughout the day to collaborate with parents on appropriate sleep schedule as baby grows
  • Experience preparing healthy snacks and meals
  • Good physical stamina to support walking to school drop offs & playgrounds, playing with children, and navigating stairs (we have a two story apartment)
  • Alignment with key parenting philosophies:
  • Behavior - positive reinforcement, setting boundaries, redirecting; no “time outs” or isolating child
  • Eating - “child led” (Solid Starts app/Instagram is a good reference) - adult decides when and what is served, child decides how much to eat (i.e., do not require child to “finish” a meal or try a food they do not want to). Start solids with food (not purees) and be willing to reference the latest research (via free Solid Starts app) on safe ways to prepare solid foods for young children, “treats”/desserts not used as a reward or requirement to finish other food and not served too often.
  • Technology - no screens/TV for kids, limited adult phone use when kids are awake
