For State Employees : NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Program Aide, G-13 or a current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in a title allocated to G-11 or higher, and eligible for transfer to Program Aide under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. For General public: NYHELPS qualifications:
High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma, and
three years of experience performing clerical, keyboarding, or
paraprofessional work in an office environment.
Certification (e.g., IAAP Certified Administrative Professional) or
associate’s degree in office administration, secretarial science,
administrative assistance, paralegal, business technology, or
office technology may substitute for two years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), experience handling confidential information, strong attention to detail, some knowledge or public health insurance programs, federal and state regulations and a desire to contribute to a team-oriented workplace. The preferred candidate must be able to manage and priorize multiple tasks and have strong computer skills, including the ability to learn new computer systems and experience using Microsoft Office products, such as Outlook, Access, Word and Excel.
The Program Aide position will support senior, professional, and administrative staff in the Bureau of Exchange Application Support. The incumbent will provide technical and administrative support to the bureau by collecting, tabulating and analyzing data, compiling reports and generating charts or graphs, in support of the NY State of Health Marketplace and the bureau's role in resolving eligibility and coverage issues. The Program Aide will independently prioritize incoming tasks and ensure efficient workflow for the bureau using databases and spreadsheets. The incumbent will assist the bureau's administrative staff and follow designated work instructions to resolve predefined categories of issues related to health insurance coverage.
