Gupta Media was founded 20 years ago on the idea that advertising could create huge leverage in our client's business. Our early work focused on the entertainment industry, specifically live events (Boston Calling, among others) and recorded music (Sony Music, Universal Music & Disney are all clients). More recently, we have dramatically grown our work with big brands (Amazon, Fender) and cult/challenger brands (Island Creek Oysters, Walden Local). We have a global client base with a growing local roster.

Reporting to our Head of Finance, you will collaborate across our media, creative and engineering teams to scale and standardize workflows to ensure accurate financial reporting.

About the Role:

Technical and Financial Reporting

As Controller, you will oversee that financial reports are prepared in accordance with GAAP and will act as a liaison across teams to ensure that revenue and expenses are recorded accurately. You will oversee the research of technical accounting questions and the creation of supporting workpapers. You will provide feedback for the financial aspects of major contracts and vendors and support negotiations and resolving issues.

Finance Team Management
Reporting directly to our Head of Finance, you will oversee the agency's monthly close process and the creation of any reporting packages by the team. You will be expected to analyze and report cost variances to budget and previous periods. In addition, you will directly manage members of our finance team including defining day-to-day duties and delegating ad hoc projects. You will support the hiring, training and ongoing career development of all finance team members.

Compliance and Payroll Management
As part of your role, you will provide support for the preparation of the corporate tax returns, sales tax, 401k and other informational reporting. You will manage the processing of payroll, including reviewing commission and bonus calculations. You will be in charge of ensuring robust internal controls and for standardized finance policies and procedures across the organization. In addition, treasury management including new account setups, controls and cash flow monitoring will be under your purview.

Required Skills and Education

• Master’s or Bachelor’s (Finance or Accounting preferred);
• CPA highly recommended;
• 6 years experience, agency background a bonus;
• Strong knowledge of GAAP reporting and technical accounting skills;
• Knowledge of tax and payroll compliance;
• Previous experience managing direct reports as part of a finance team;
• Confident presenter who can communicate financial information and analytical expertise orally and in writing;
• A high level of professionalism coupled with a steadfast commitment to good process.
