The Account Payable Specialist is a vital component of the Finance team. The Account Payable Specialist works closely with the Account Payable Clerk and the Procurement Manager in the processing of agency invoices and payments in a timely and efficient manner.

Review vendor invoices against encumbrances where applicable verifying the price of goods/services.

Resolve discrepancies in vendor invoicing.

Verify the receipt of goods with supporting documentation.

Verify the general ledger accounts used with the Grant Manager.

Process weekly check runs and any other check requests.

Primary point of contact with internal managers and external vendors regarding all aspects of the accounts payable process.

Monitor vendor statements resolving any discrepancies.

Processing of new vendor setup in Accounting system and maintaining W-9 information for vendors.

Respond to all vendor inquiries

Minimum of five years’ accounts payable experience preferably with an encumbrance system. Excellent communication skills, both oral and writing

Ability to work independently but also function successfully as part of team.

Ability to consistently meet deadlines

Familiarity with Accounting Software, Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred, however, not required

Ability to use Microsoft software such as Excel and Word.
