The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the smooth and profitable operation of a company's human resources department. Supervises and provides consultation to management on strategic staffing plans, compensation, benefits, training and development, budget, compliance, and labor relations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university (desired)
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training (required)
  • A minimum of five years in an HR leadership position (desired)
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM SCP certification (preferred) or willingness to obtain within eighteen (18) months
  • Experience using an HRIS system (preferred)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the human resource function and performance
  • Participate in the development of the organization's plans and programs, particularly from the perspective of impact on people
  • Evaluate and advise on impact of long-range planning of innovative programs/strategies and regulatory items affecting the attraction, motivation, development and retention of the people resources of the organization
  • Develops human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and develop specific programs to fill the identified gaps
  • Develop staffing strategies, implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the organization for needed positions
  • Manage the human resource information systems database and provide necessary reports for critical analyses of the HR function and the people resources of the organization
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization to be an effective listener and problem solver for the organization
  • Provide advice to department leaders regarding regulatory and compliance issues
  • Assist leadership in the cultural assessment of the organization and translate that assessment into a plan for cultural development
  • Innovate, facilitate, support and evaluate employee engagement initiatives within the organization
  • Collaborate in the budgeting of the HR Department
  • Determine, hire and supervise appropriate HR Department staffing
  • Manage the monitoring of the Compliance Plan for the organization
  • Continue improving the programs, policies, practices and processes associated with meeting the strategic and operational people issues of the organization
  • Along with serving as a leader for HR functions, be a producer for HR tasks as necessary, to accomplish essential and desired outcomes of the department.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to apply fair judgment to resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS

Proficient and accurate typing skills. Excel and Word experience. Telephone etiquette. Attention to details .
