Goodwill Industries of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties is Hiring a Learning and Development Manager Near Oxnard, CA

Job Identification:
• Immediate Supervisor: Sr. Director of Mission Services
• EEOC Class: Professional
• FLSA Status: Exempt

Wage $65,000 - $70,000 yearly

Maximum Range is provided as an example of the Wage/salary range for each position and its earning capacity given factors such as time in position, longevity with the company, education level, and performance experience. Newly entering employees should expect to enter at the minimum level.

Job Summary:
The Learning and Development Manager leads and directs the overall human learning and development functions to ensure necessary talent acquisition to meet applicable organizational objectives and to ensure a positive return on invested employees. Directs and consults with area experts, oversees training needs assessments, curriculum development, delivery, and evaluation. The position leads the learning and development team.

Please note that this position has a 180-day introductory period.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Designs and implements training for employees including but not limited to leadership activities, succession management, and team building.
• Facilitates partnerships with departmental representatives to identify and meet training needs to maximize employee performance and meet company strategic objectives.
• Develops and implements career pathways and leadership development training for employees.
• Oversees and maintains a Learning Management System (LMS).
• Supervises the Training and Development Team.
• Oversees and/or coordinates the development and maintenance of training schedules with hiring and training demands to ensure timely delivery of training.
• Monitors training results that include tracking information, costs, and effectiveness of company training programs.
• Consults with both in-house management and with expert third parties to identify training needs.
• Reviews and is familiar with the organization’s safety policies, programs, and procedures; adheres to all safety rules, regulations, and safety codes.
• Oversees Goodwill’s C.A.R.E.S. Program.
• Develops and oversees Goodwill’s Career Pathway Program.
• Is responsible for Goodwill’s Book Club.
• Monitor employee turnover by location.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS office, Power BI, and LMS systems.
• High degree of integrity, accountability, and emotional intelligence.

• Ability to build systems strategically to achieve desired results.
• Knowledge of retail, thrift, second hand, post-retail industry, leadership development, human resources, risk management policies and procedures.
• Kaizen or Six Sigma training.
• Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Works well under pressure and with deadlines; ability to multitask.
• Excellent time management skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Thorough knowledge about company’s mission and services.
• Performs other related duties as assigned that would lead to successful operation of department, team, and/or mission.

Required Experience:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and or abilities required for the position. Individuals must be able to pass a criminal background. Individuals must have a valid driver’s license, liability insurance, insurability under the agency insurance carrier, dependable vehicle and a clean driving record.
• 5 years of management experience in Learning and Development, or Organizational Development.
• Bachelor’s Degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
• Valid driver license and insured/reliable vehicle.
• Background check.

Physical Requirements:
• Free from drug and alcohol abuse.
