Golden Girls Residential Care LLC is Hiring a Nurse Near Lewiston, ID

Position Title: Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (Nurse)

Focus: Long Term Care

Reports To: Director of Nursing (DON)


Purpose

Reporting to the DON, the Nurse is accountable to provide person-centered care for residents given by Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP). Primary functions include assessment and planning of resident care needs; delivering skilled procedures according to the State of Idaho Board of Nursing; communicating knowledge to residents, family members, care team, and providers; administering, authorizing, reporting/ordering and monitoring medication and outcomes; delegating effectively to care staff; and documenting utilizing standard clinical documentation guides.

The Nurse is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with the mission of Caring for those who cared for us and subsequent values, to ensure resident safety, demonstrate team leadership, and uphold customer service excellence.

General Information

You will receive on-the-job training, as well as have support from the small and flexible Administrative Team. You will be part of joining a nursing team with 2-3 other nurses in two small assisted living facilities in home-like residential settings, providing care to up to 19 residents total. You’ll help work with the remaining caregiving team made up of caregivers, CNAs, and medication technicians. This family-owner/operator company has established an esteemed reputation over the last 15 years and welcomes a member who can work with the team, as well as independently. We also value ownership, autonomy and provide flexibility. There will be a shared on-call schedule for mostly calls for PRN medications, change of condition instructions, and assessments after incidents or accidents. When not on call, there will be some agreed-upon scheduled time slots, but the requirements are mostly division of labor among the nursing team with tasks that must be accomplished within a time frame, allowing you to choose much of your schedule. These will include some weekly, quarterly, and annual tasks, as well as working with the resident’s schedule of care coordinating with their family, POAs, and outside services.

Responsibilities

General

  • Provides for nursing care in accordance with policy, provider’s orders, the resident plan of care, and the State of Idaho Residential Assisted Living Facility rules and regulations within the scope of practice of a RN or LPN;
  • Utilizes sound nursing practice principles. The Nurse will ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care in small residential assisted living facilities, who admit residents needing minor ADL care needs through memory care and end-of-life;
  • Develops and sustains a plan of care to meet residents’ assessed needs;
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of nursing care delivered;
  • Demonstrates a professional working knowledge of all equipment used in the delivery of nursing care;
  • Follows all corporate policies and procedures; contributes to the development of site specific nursing policies as indicated.
  • Complete admission and discharge nursing assessment and procedures.
  • Perform other nursing job tasks as personally identifies and assigned.
  • React decisively and quickly in emergency situations, with ability to communicate effectively, understanding scope of care.

Care Coordination

  • Adjusts job routines as necessary to meet resident care needs;
  • Effectively participates in communication with the interdisciplinary team providing care to the residents;
  • Liaises with staff and outside agencies and supports effective clinical care for all residents;
  • Utilizes evidence-based nursing practice that will enhance resident care delivery;

Quality Management

  • Contributes to the development of recommendations for training and corrective action;
  • Maintains personal accountability for completion of monthly, quarterly and annual assessments as assigned;
  • Participates in assigned meetings on a regular basis and contributes to discussion and planning.

Financial Accountability

  • Ensures appropriate utilization of all supplies and equipment;
  • Communicates timely to DON and/or scheduler when changes are needed in personal scheduling;
  • Helps ensure an adequate inventory of nursing supplies at all times through timely and proper communication, including contributing to process improvement ideas;
  • Addresses nursing supply issues promptly;
  • Assists in ensuring the supply, control and safe keeping of drugs and narcotics, ensures protocols are followed on all assigned shifts.

Human Resources

  • Participates in an effective orientation, and performance management process in accordance with standards for all employees within the nursing department;
  • Identifies nursing department learning needs and communicates to leadership;
  • Models positive working relationships with other staff.

Occupational Health & Safety

  • Advises supervisor or designate immediately of all incidents or injuries and completes required reports;
  • Follows all health and safety policies and procedures. Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents;
  • Wears personal protective equipment as designated;
  • Maintains a clean, safe environment for residents utilizing infection control principles;
  • Maintains a sound working knowledge of their roles and responsibilities during all emergency situations when working different shifts;
  • Participates in drills to prepare for emergencies and attends all education sessions in relation to emergency preparedness.

Family & Resident Relations

  • Contributes to positive customer service with residents and families;
  • Conducts ongoing communication with families to inform them of changes in resident health status.

Charge Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for all components of resident care in the absence of the DON or designate;
  • Initiates emergency plans as necessary with Administrative team;
  • Initiates enhanced infection control procedures as indicated;
  • Responds to resident and family concerns and reports to DON or designate in a timely manner;
  • Supports practices for the safety of all staff and residents in the home during the assigned shift.

Working Conditions

  • Modern facilities, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment;
  • Hours of work include scheduled shifts and call-ins, and may include day, evening, night shifts, weekdays and weekends. There is a requirement to work some holidays;
  • Work is in a home-like long term care facility and requires interaction with administrative staff, caregiving staff, residents, outside service providers, and residents’ families and friends. Must be flexible to changing needs of the residents, staff, and operational issues, as they are presented.

Knowledge and Skill

  • Must possess current unimpeded Registration with the Idaho Board of Nursing;
  • CPR certification is current, or will be willing to acquire within 30 days of onboarding;
  • Will pass a State of Idaho background check;
  • Experience in rehabilitation, home health, or long-term nursing preferred;
  • Proficiency in interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • A caring and empathetic attitude is crucial;
  • Ability to work independently with decision-making confidence within scope of practice;
  • Ability for little day-to-day management in flexible work hours, as will often be only nurse in facility;
  • Strong leadership skills, with team focus;
  • Demonstrated organizational, detail, and time management;
  • Must maintain confidentiality and protect and uphold residents’ rights, with strong knowledge of HIPAA laws;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, applications, internet use, and electronic health documentation general knowledge (specific program training will be provided).
  • Pay dependent on licensing, education, full or part time status, and experience.
