Description
Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. We are two of New York City's leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children, youth and families, homeless individuals, and older adults through-out Manhattan and New York City. We work every day for a fair and just society where all people have the opportunity to make choices that lead to better lives for themselves and their families. The Isaacs Center focuses primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville, and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.
Program Description: The Manhattan Outreach Consortium is a borough-wide initiative to reach out to and quickly move street homeless individuals into permanent housing. The Downtown office services lower Manhattan and collaborates with various community partners and healthcare agencies throughout Manhattan.
Purpose of Position: Provide support and clinical supervision to outreach staff with the goal of helping clients achieve stable permanent housing.
Schedule: Monday through Friday9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Salary Range: $68,000 to $75,000
Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidate's number of years experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account.
Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties
  • Supervision of Senior Housing Outreach Specialists
  • Ensure that all documentation (including, but not limited to, progress notes, service plans, health forms, housing applications, reports, etc.) is completed by direct service staff in a timely manner and within established deadlines as per agency and funding sources standards; provide coaching on policies and clinical practice.
  • Support evidence-based practice models including person centered planning, motivational interviewing, trauma informed care, harm reduction, and strengths-based approach.
  • Provide weekly supervision to staff; promote staff development, evaluate their work and initiate performance improvement plans when required.
  • Serve as liaison with HRA to provide cash assistance.
  • Advise staff re: clinical assessment of clients, assist with de-escalation/crisis intervention and coordinate hospitalization/9.58 as needed.
  • Assist with audit preparation and performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Assist Program Director with daily program operations, serve as acting Director in Program Director's absence.
  • Interface with various community agencies, funders and stakeholders relevant to our client population
  • Attend staff meetings, case conferences, training programs and supervision meetings.
  • Support outreach team in the performance of client intake, clinical assessment, service planning, advocacy, referral and escort services to assist in housing placement.
  • Carry a small caseload, approximately 10 clients.
  • Oversee Senior HOS caseloads when they are out for an extended period.
  • Participate and assist outreach staff in canvassing, Joint Operations, DHS Clean-ups as needed.
  • Drive an outreach vehicle, public transportation when necessary.
  • Participate in 4 overnight counts each year.
  • Part of the on-call rotation
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  • LMSW required, LCSW preferred.
  • SIFI certification a plus
  • 3 years minimum of supervisory experience
  • Experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, substance use and homelessness strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets the agency's auto insurance guidelines (including at least one year as a licensed driver and no suspensions within the last 3 years)

  • Understanding of homelessness, housing first, client centered approach, and harm reduction models preferred

Computer Skills
  • Able to work in the Microsoft Office Suite, should especially be proficient in Word and Outlook
  • Able to use or learn other electronic databases, programs, and funder-related software such as Streetsmart, MOCapp, HMIS, and AWARDS
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking and standing
  • Able to life up to 30lbs, including client belongings.
