to break the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and criminal recidivism by providing holistic services, housing, and work opportunities to the under-served populations including the formerly homeless and incarcerated, disconnected youth, veterans, and people living with AIDS. Our flagship transitional work program-- Ready, Willing & Able-- integrates paid work, occupational training, and holistic supportive services to facilitate an individual’s return to mainstream society. 
The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $65 million and a full-time staff of 400 . We are seeking an Assistant Program Director for The Doe Fund's newest permanent supportive housing for homeless individuals including veterans living with a severe mental illness and/or history of substance use. The housing program is designed to provide long-term residential care and twenty-four-hour support services in a community environment that maximizes residents' independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being. This 90-unit residence will provide housing for 54 individuals referred by the NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the rest 36 units will be apartments for affordable to low-income households. The Assistant Program Director will provide clinical and administrative supervision to members of the clinical team. The successful candidate will have strong clinical and supervisory skills along with experience working with individuals diagnosed with co-occurring disorders and/or trauma, as well as relevant New York City and State agencies and funding sources.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • You have a Master’s degree in Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or a relevant field required 
  • You have 5 years of experience working with homeless individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness and/or substance abuse disorder and/or in trauma settings
  • You have expertise in Evidence-Based Practice including Critical Time Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, and Harm Reduction techniques 
  • You have strong leadership skills, including outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • You have demonstrated the ability to inspire and motivate staff and residents
  • You are sensitive to community issues and needs
  • You have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • You have strong ethical standards, confidentiality, and personal integrity
  • You are computer proficient (i.e., email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Program Director with the day-to-day operations of the supportive housing program
  • Conduct regular supervision (individual and group) with the members of the Clinical team and maintain an accurate record of each supervisory meeting
  • Review housing applications from the CAPS system and set up interviews for prospective residents
  • Assist Program Director with the completion of reports 
  • Conduct regular chart audits to ensure compliance with the standards of The Doe Fund and DOHMH
  • Monitor and review resident Service Plans and ensure that other charting documents are recorded in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Co-facilitate team meetings and case conferences
  • Maintain a directory of resources on substance abuse, mental health treatment, and services for veterans
  • Collaborate with all departments as it relates to the residents; assist in coordinating care and referrals with community agencies and hospitals
  • Assist with the development of quality assurance guidelines and procedures for the Clinical team
  • Responsible for the performance appraisals of Clinical Staff
  • Attend all administrative meetings in the absence of the Program Director 
  • Responsible for program oversight in the absence of the Program Director
  • Other duties as assigned
