GMT is Hiring a Director of Business Development Near Waverly, IA

I. Summary

The Director of Business Development focus will be on prospecting qualifying, developing, and influencing key decision makers utilizing introductory calls, emails, virtual or direct meetings, and strategic social networking (LinkedIn) to make introductions, develop relationships, and work to secure new customers through contractual agreements. The most critical component of success in this role is NEW sales production revenue growth throughout the US. 

II. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Director of Business Development is responsible for leading activities related to conceptualizing and implementing business development, market research, planning and strategic direction with the commercial team. The Director is also responsible for leading, managing and seeking to grow strategic account(s) for the company. This position is responsible for establishing sales targets to meet company objectives and developing strategic sales plans based on company goals that will promote sales growth and customer satisfaction for the organization.

Top performance requires a results-oriented, self-directed, competitive sales professional with a persistent, active, targeted approach to selling, and a strong foundation of sales focused customer engagement activity to prospect, qualify, develop, and close new business.

The director of business development role requires strong focus on the following:

  • New Business Development-New Customer Development- prospecting, qualifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities with NEW customers to grow and saturate the US.
  • Administration- Collaborating with Commercial team to develop leads, track results, reporting, territory strategy, planning, proposals, and sales administration activities.

Additional Duties:

  • Oversee and provide direction to markets and competitor analysis.
  • Participate fully in professional societies and activities related to related markets.
  • Prepare presentations to explain the company's current and future strategies.
  • Recommends sales strategies for improvement based on market research and competitor analyses.
  • Manages multiple channels selling strategies.
  • Develops annual sales plan in support of organization strategy and objectives.
  • Directs implementation and execution of sales policies and practices.
  • Ensures communications are coordinated, supports sales plan objectives, and meets organizational expenditure requirements.
  • Recommends sales strategies for improvement based on market research and competitor analyses.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

V. Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • 5-7 years of proven industry sales experience and success in new business development in a manufacturing sales environment.
  • Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus 7 years related experience and/or training, and 5 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and understand common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; Ability to respond to complex or difficult inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format; Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work, in addition, the organization and delegation of work operations for a group of employees engaged in widely diversified activities.
