GMA Construction Group is Hiring a Project Estimator Near Chicago, IL

GMA Construction Group is seeking a Project Estimator. The ideal candidate has a degree in Construction Manager or similar field.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Estimator supports the Assistant Lead Estimator as a member of the Estimating Department responsible for on-time completion of hard bid, negotiated, and conceptual estimates.

Essential job duties include:

  • Knowledge of construction means and methods, costs, and market conditions
  • Conduct detailed review of project plans and specifications
  • Perform accurate quality takeoffs and materials pricing
  • Develop scope sheets for the portion of work assigned
  • Communicate with interested bidders to ensure pricing of complete scope of work
  • Conduct outreach to potential bidders to ensure trade coverage
  • Compare and analyze subcontractor bids
  • Collaborate with the Estimating Team during important bid milestones (i.e. kick-off, bid review, bid day)
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with diversity participation goals
  • Assist in preparing estimates at different levels of completion (i.e. conceptual, schematic, DD, CD)
  • Maintain and develop relationships with the subcontractor community

Qualifications

  • Understanding of Bluebeam, Excel, and BuildingConnected
  • Experience estimating projects over $5 million
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
