We are seeking a Senior Accountant Revenue to provide accounting support for our revenue recognition and client invoicing team. In this role, you will be responsible for client billing and oversee the monthly revenue recognition process for several customer projects at Ginkgo. You will also work closely with program managers to maintain all required information and data in the billing system to ensure timely communication with customers and develop proper accounting documentation workflow for new contracts, providing a foundational financial structure for new partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Assume ownership of the monthly revenue recognition process for several Ginkgo projects by working closely with Program Managers, confirming monthly project spending under the transfer pricing and government billing programs before invoicing customers
• Assist in any automation processes that improve the efficiency and timeliness of financial reporting and support Ginkgo's continued growth
• Manage the revenue and transfer pricing workbooks to ensure billing is accurate and completed in a timely manner, Prepare monthly revenue recognition journal entries accordingly
• Maintain and review customer balance and accounts receivable aging reports to ensure that payments are applied properly, with thorough understanding of the Debit/Credit concept
• Prepare customer account adjustments as required (i.e. credit memos) when billing issues cannot be resolved
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting in the billing system and G/L
• Track and report bookings of new contracts, and develop and maintain accounting process documentation
• Provide significant support of the annual financial statement audit, including documenting control steps for internal and external audits
• Ensure SOX compliance by adhering to internal control requirements.
• Provide support in the completion of any internal revenue reporting effort
• Prepare account reconciliations
• Provide backup to the Accounting Manager as needed, managing special projects as required
• Ensure adherence to pertinent regulatory requirements and to departmental policies, practices and procedures [SOPs, safety procedures and biosafety protocols]
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field with 5 years of revenue accounting experience
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition accounting
• Detailed operational knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to establish multiple priorities and accomplish objectives independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent communication and analytical skills, and ability to resolve both new and old issues as they arise
• Ability to interface daily with customers, internal departments, and vendors while researching and resolving billing issues and ensuring best practices are in place

Preferred Capabilities and Experience

• CPA or MBA degree preferred
• Experience in public company accounting and reporting such as through an audit/ assurance role within a large public accounting firm
• Working knowledge with Oracle NetSuite; Workday; Coupa; Blackline; and Adaptive tools
• Experience with billing/invoicing and/or client service

Total compensation for this role is market driven, with a starting salary of $minimum of range 80k , as well as company stock awards. Base pay is ultimately determined based on a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience.
