Responsibilities

The HR Business Partner is responsible providing exceptional service through partnerships with people leaders on business decisions related to Gilbane’s People First strategy. The HR Business Partner will report to the HR Manager, Business Partners and support key HR initiatives in designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation and employment law compliance. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and consulting support of all issues related to, employment, compensation, employee relations, succession planning and employee development.
  • Develop relationships with people leaders in the assigned regions and departments, to be a credible valued business partner to achieve the business and People First objectives.
  • Build better people leaders through thorough understanding of programs, processes and objectives and translate to assigned people leaders.
  •  Participate in Employee Relations investigations and processes to ensure fair and consistent outcomes across the organization.
  • Provide coaching on applicable employment laws and human resource practices including compliance, compensation, performance management, recruiting & selection, and employee relations.
  • Provides direction on and is responsible for local implementation of organization-wide HR policies and programs.
  • Coach managers to handle complex employee matters, facilitates difficult and challenging conversations to achieve conflict resolution and make recommendation for closure
  • Partners with management in forecasting staffing needs, managing turnover and planning for growth or attrition
  • Promote and advocate company-wide initiatives that support employee growth, performance, engagement, and development.
  • Work closely with the HR Manager, Business Partners to ensure that HR processes, actions and programs for the organization and BU are in alignment and executed.
  • With the HR Manager, facilitate the local talent review process and ensure development plans are in place for emerging leaders.
  • Oversee Employee Engagement Survey results and improvement plans
  • Partner with College Recruitment Team to ensure successful College Hire and internship programs.
  • Liaise with the Talent Acquisition team regarding new openings to ensure TA team has current understanding of all hiring needs and participate in interviewing and selection of key hires.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years professional Human Resources experience
  • Prior experience in the A/E/C industry is
  • The successful candidate should possess an undergraduate degree. A Master’s Degree in an applicable field and/or HR certification is a plus. 
  • Experience with and aptitude for Employee Relations investigations is a plus

  • Advanced problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to drive appropriate solutions

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent change management skills with the ability to influence senior leadership to adopt changes
  • Proven successes as an HR Business Partner in a large fast paced environment.

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

For Providence,RI this ranges from $93,000.00 -$120,000 base salary plus bonus, benefits and retirement program.
