Research Assistant, Department of Pharmacology and Physiology - Georgetown University Medical Center
The long term research goal of the Wang Lab is to understand the mechanisms underlying homeostatic regulation that stabilizes the nervous system and how the dysfunction of homeostatic control contributes to neurological diseases, such as epilepsy, Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Our lab uses a broad spectrum of techniques such as electrophysiology, confocal imaging, super-resolution imaging, RNA-Sequencing, and genome editing in combination with cutting-edge computational methods to explore the basis and functional consequences of dysregulated homeostatic signaling.
We have a great opportunity for a Research Assistant to obtain research experience that will greatly benefit the research environment in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology.
The Research Assistant has duties that include performing basic lab research, organizing lab supplies, purchasing necessary equipment and supplies, and lab maintenance assistance. They report to the Dr. Wang on a daily basis regarding their research progress and receive supervision in the lab.
Qualification
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree
Preferred qualification
Research background and experience in molecular biology (PCR, restriction enzyme or gate-way cloning, and genotyping), genetics, neuroscience, or fly husbandry
