Communications Coordinator, Department of Communications - Georgetown University Law Center
The Office of Communications collaborates with faculty and staff to publicize Georgetown Law's excellence and accomplishments through communication strategies that include media relations, Georgetown Law website and magazine coverage, social media, design, photography and video.
Job Overview
The Communications Coordinator provides general administrative, business and operational support to the Department of Communications at the Law Center; handles all the administrative paperwork for the communications department; and serves as primary liaison with finance office on hiring contractors, paying invoices, submitting financial paperwork, managing the department credit cards, and allocating payments to various departments. They also support communications efforts, including photography, website content development, social media and media relations efforts.
Work Interactions
Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications, the Communications Coordinator supports and interacts with all of the members of the Law Center's Communications team; and serves as the primary liaison with Financial Affairs, facilities and other departments at the Law Center and main campus.
Qualifications
B.A. in communications, journalism or other relevant area
1 to 2 years in a communications department or agency experience
Expertise in the budget planning process
Strong writing skills, highly organized, and ability to prioritize multiple projects on tight deadlines
Good working knowledge of - and an interest in - social media platforms
Preferred qualification
Experience with Cision media database, InDesign software program and WordPress content management system
