Requirements
Analyst for Strategic Initiatives, Office of Advancement - Georgetown University
Job Overview
The Strategic Initiatives (SI) team is a campaign strategy and planning team in the Office of Advancement responsible for preparing the university's priority educational, research, and institutional projects for fundraising with current and potential donors. Working directly with university and Advancement leadership, the Strategic Initiatives team develops the content that comprises the campaign giving priorities-concepts that relate both to societal imperatives and to the philanthropic objectives of the university and its donors. The team partners directly with Georgetown's frontline fundraising team to craft customized gift solicitation proposals representing these and other priorities to donors.
The Analyst for Strategic Initiatives serves a crucial role in ensuring the highest levels of customer service and effective team administration for the Strategic Initiatives team, including responding to requests for partnership from frontline fundraisers and other Advancement colleagues, as well as campus partners; organizing team project intake meetings; ensuring the effective organization and distribution of SI resources to the Office of Advancement; and managing the layout (using InDesign) and proofing of all SI materials.
The Analyst is also responsible for researching and writing custom donor proposals for gifts of at least $100,000. The Analyst will work with SI colleagues to manage projects from start to finish-engaging multiple stakeholders at key feedback points and managing collaboration with leaders in the Office of Advancement (particularly the frontline fundraising team) and in academic units across the university. These materials will describe the business case for prospective investors and ensure alignment between academic planning and philanthropic opportunities. This work will require the Analyst to "manage upward" with colleagues in different departments to ensure projects meet deadlines. When the Analyst manages projects to completion, on time and of high quality, it leads to donor-funded projects and increases philanthropic revenue to the university. The Analyst will also support work led by senior members of the Strategic Initiatives team to develop internal and external collateral in support of initiatives reflecting priorities for major individual schools and units of the university.
This position reports to the Senior Director of Strategy & Planning. The role requires exceptional conceptual and analytical ability, outstanding writing and interpersonal skills, creativity and intellectual vitality, strong collaborative skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to the continuing improvement of concepts and projects. Also vital is the ability to manage complex projects and initiatives, effectiveness and persistence in engaging the support of multiple stakeholders to achieve shared objectives, and a respect for the practicalities of implementation.
Work Interactions
The Analyst will interact with internal and external constituents and leaders including deans, faculty, and development officers. The Analyst will collaborate closely with fellow team members.
