GEA is looking for an individual to manage project teams, within GEA’s LPT North America Chemical Business Unit, to ensure that project deliverables meet customer & GEA’s requirements. Projects are based on GEA technology which typically includes various types of Dryers, Powder Handling and Conveying, Dust and Pollution Abatement systems, Evaporators, Crystallizers and Heat Exchangers. Opportunity to work remotely 3 days a week.

Your responsibilities and tasks:

  • Manage projects (usually <$5 Million) as a Professional Project Manager
  • Overall responsible for the execution of a project being involved in the initial quotation phase and through commissioning, handover and project close down
  • Overall responsible for the financial performance and result of the project, ensuring the best outcome for GEA
  • Responsible for the project organization, success and providing strong direction for a small project team
  • Responsible for ensuring a strong culture of ownership within the project team in meeting the project objectives
  • Planning and maintaining project schedule by monitoring project progress including the hour estimates and margin goals.
  • Responsible for reporting the project’s performance to multiple stakeholders, steering committee and customer
  • Responsible for ensuring that tasks are coordinated and carried out in a manner which is in line with GEA’s standard practice and procedures and meets with the customer expectations
  • Responsible for completion of projects according to scope, cost, quality and schedule
  • Responsible for the customer management and satisfaction during the execution of the project
  • Ensure that the site work is managed by the site manager and that H&S is implemented at all time.
  • Attend client meetings on site to facilitate the commissioning of GEA supplied equipment and demonstrating that KPIs are met.
  • Responsible for Claim Management & Change Order Management
  • Perform Risk Management to mitigate and minimize project risks
  • Capture and evaluate Lessons Learned of a project
  • Create Procurement plan with supply chain to meet project schedule.
  • Responsible for the RFQ process for vendor selection and management
  • Review client's purchase order and specifications for conformance to GEA’s scope of supply and latest proposal
  • Review and update job cost reports, prepare monthly project summary reports, review sub-vendor invoices, and prepare client invoices
  • Coordinate with project team (Process, Purchasing, Design, I&C, Structural, Field Service, etc.)
  • Attend technical meetings and seminars as requested
  • Provide technical support to troubleshoot problems with new and existing plants

Project Engineering:

  • Prepare PFD's and P&ID's based upon calculations from Process & I&C Engineering
  • Responsible for equipment layout on general arrangement drawings from design team
  • Prepare detailed technical specifications and equipment specifications
  • Participate in vendor selection with Purchasing and evaluate technical competence, quoted price, and delivery
  • Review vendor submittals for compliance with specification
  • Review and sign-off all drawing submittals to client and/or vendors
  • Coordinate inspection and field erection of GEA equipment
  • Write and coordinate assembly of O&M manuals
  • Supervise mechanical checkout of equipment and coordinate overall startup activities including process and I&C support
  • Train operators and plant support personnel
  • Contributes to team effort by completing all tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor
  • Complete various tasked assigned by supervisor

Your profile and qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Mechanical, Chemical or similar Engineering degree with minimum 5 years of experience
  • 5 years of Project management experience with the chemical process industry or plant maintenance
  • Desirable to have knowledge of GEA processes/product lines
  • Capable of functioning with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work safely in industrial environments
  • Willingness to travel 15-20% of the time
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must possess good English language communication, verbal and written
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and work well in a team setting as well as independently
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Advantageous to have working knowledge of MS Office products and Axapta
