Gargiulo Produce is Hiring a Human Resources and Payroll Administrator Near Hillside, NJ

Responsibilities:
As a member of the Gargiulo Produce team, the successful candidate will perform a wide range of HR and Payroll administration while providing superior customer service to employees and guests. Successful candidate will be responsible for new hires, benefits, workers compensation administration, EEO, OSHA, HR training coordination, performance review and other ad hoc projects. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and grow your HR career. This role will report directly to the Controller.

Overall HR Administration

  • Manages full HR Cycle, Recruiting, Hiring, Onboarding, Employee Leaves and Exit Interviews
  • Completes Forms I-9, maintains employees files
  • Advises leadership on hiring and terminations Mentor managers on employee development best practices
  • Provides guidance on employee behavior and conflict resolution
  • Creates an Employee Handbook which incorporates the company policies and practices
  • Coordinates logistics for new hire orientations and employee training sessions
  • Maintains employee job responsibility profiles and organizational chart
  • Assists with the annual goals and review process
  • Manages Unemployment verifications and 3rd party requests
  • Plans and coordinates company sponsored employee and community events
  • Maintains Employees access points and parking passes
  • Maintains drug and alcohol testing program files for employees in safety sensitive positions pursuant to FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) requirements. Maintains driver qualification files for our commercial drivers.
  • Conducts or assists with operations and records audits and assists with mandatory reports, which may include I-9 audits, EEO-1 and OSHA filings, payroll audits, and other compliance reviews
  • Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Benefits Administration

  • Serves as Co-administrator for the organization’s health benefits administration platform
  • Serves as key point of contact for staff inquires and the primary liaison with broker for day-to-day inquiries and problem-solving
  • Manages all health benefits documentation, compliance, and training
  • Manages the administration of medical, dental, vision, and other insurance programs for active and terminated employees in partnership with the broker
  • Assist with annual open enrollment process. This includes, communication, training, online enrollments, terminations, and new-hire reporting.
  • Tracks and maintains employee changes and data – new hires, terminations, transfers and benefit changes, ensuring the changes are made in both the HRIS system and with benefits carriers through EDI feeds
  • COBRA processing through a third party and audit of leaves of absence

Employee Time off and Leave Management

  • Manages all aspects of the timesheet; ensures employee time records and PTO balances are accurate and complete, including monitoring leaves of absences
  • Administers employee PTO requests, scheduling, tracking, and compliance
  • Manages all extended leave documents and resources, including planning with employees, reconciliation, and internal communication
  • Manages the organization’s worker’s compensation process; Works with 3rd party on timely processing, coordination and communication; Provides internal updates on as needed basis
  • Creates time analysis reports

Payroll Processing: Assigned Departments assisting with other groups

  • Assists with company-wide bi-weekly payroll process
  • Enters annual and ad hoc payroll changes in the payroll system for the Controller’s approval;
  • Enters all employee payroll changes in the payroll system for the Controller’s approval;
  • Processes applicable payroll deductions, such as benefits deductions, child support orders, garnishments, IRS and state tax levies
  • Reviews employee data action changes and audit for accuracy to ensure that the appropriate adjustments are made in the payroll/benefits system, such as retro pay, pay adjustments for new hires, and termination pays
  • Creates and process payroll batches
  • Assists employees with payroll-related questions and issues
  • Runs payroll-related reports

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of HR and Payroll experience
  • Strong understanding of employee benefit administration and related compliance
  • Experience processing payroll through payroll software platform
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Passion for supporting employees through all stages of the employment life cycle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software
