We are looking for an eager Assistant Controller who has a few years experience of in full-cycle accounting and who naturally adopts a collaborative approach to accounting work. The Assistant Controller will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. They will report to the Director of the Outsourced Accounting Services Department.

THE SKILL SET

  • Four to six years of full-cycle accounting/bookkeeping experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field. 
  • Full Professional English proficiency, verbal and written.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software. 
  • Excellent multitasking and ability to perform various tasks simultaneously. 
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting. 
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
A PLUS IF YOU HAVE
  • Experience working in a public accounting firm or in an outsourced capacity.
  • Seven or more years of full-cycle accounting/bookkeeping experience.
  • A desire for work-life balance.
  • A desire to find a long-term, professional home.
WITHIN 1 MONTH, YOU'LL
  • Complete new hire orientation and onboarding.
  • Complete introductory training.
  • Begin growing your internal network by meeting with Supervisors, Managers and Directors.
  • Get up to speed on the processes and clients of the Outsource Department.
  • Start performing general cost accounting and other related duties for our clients. 
WITHIN 6 MONTHS, YOU'LL
  • Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements. 
  • Maintain the general ledger. 
  • Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books. 
  • Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks. 
  • Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
  • Manage accounts receivable collections. 
  • Confirm payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts. 
WITHIN 12 MONTHS, YOU'LL
  • Manage the purchasing and invoicing system. 
  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the software vendors to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software. 
  • File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies. 
  • Provide outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform an annual audit. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
