About the Team:
The TPM team is responsible for defining, implementing, and maintaining the standards for program and project management across multiple organizations at Foursquare. Program Managers drive our product enhancements, technical integrations, and cross-functional projects with Executive-level visibility.
About the Role:
Foursquare is looking for a Technical Program Manager to join our team located in or near one of our office hubs in New York City, Seattle, or San Francisco. The TPM will work on cross-functional projects and teams spanning multiple organizations with Executive-level visibility. Example programs include new product launch readiness, User Privacy enhancements, and hosting cost management. These strategic programs need a Program Manager to take a concept, develop a point of view, and lead the delivery across a wide range of teams. The Program Manager will join the TPM team, reporting to the Director of Program Management.
You will own the definition and delivery of programs, bringing expertise in both program management and building relationships with stakeholders across a wide set of functions. Through collaboration with business partners and engineering teams, this role will drive forward strategic initiatives that will massively impact the operational efficiency of Foursquare.
In this role, you'll:
  • Oversee a diverse range of programs, establishing clear goals, objectives, and iterative deliverables to ensure successful implementation. Utilize tools such as Jira and Confluence for efficient documentation and tracking of requirements.
  • Develop and maintain quarterly OKRs, formulating Objective statements and Key Results to evaluate the overall impact of initiatives on customers.
  • Strategically balance various factors, such as risk mitigation, issue resolution, dependency management, and high-ROI prioritization, to effectively maximize customer value and satisfaction.
  • Proactively communicate program status, risks, and trade-off decisions to relevant stakeholders, teams, and partners at all levels, including executive leadership. Escalate critical concerns when necessary to drive informed decision-making.
  • Manage engineering budget and cost control, overseeing teams' monthly targets and new expenditures to ensure alignment with financial objectives.
  • Continuously enhance program management processes by identifying areas of improvement across teams and driving the implementation of effective solutions for increased efficiency and productivity.
What you'll need:
  • 3 years experience in a similar role or similar working experience.
  • Experience working with senior levels of leadership & with external partners.
  • Success in selecting the right project management framework for a given project.
  • Understand software engineering fundamentals. Experience leading change in large-scale systems.
  • Experience in communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and connecting business context and customer impact to engineering tasks.
  • Enjoys bringing creative thinking and ideas for improvement as a member of TPM and as a member of cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills (Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice to have:
  • Scrum Master or Product Owner certified.
  • Experience in location, data platforms, and/ or marketing technology.
  • Enterprise software development experience (as a developer, SDET, architect, etc).
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams.
  • Knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
  • Background experience in any of the following a major plus:
    • Cost control, specifically in regards to AWS.
    • Understanding of the digital marketing ecosystem.
    • Enterprise SAAS systems.

At Foursquare, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry and market standards. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, and specific office location.
The annual total cash compensation range is $96,000 - $156,750, howeveractual salaries can vary based on a candidate's qualifications, skills and competencies, as well as location.
Salary is just one component of Foursquare's total compensation package, which includes restricted stock units, multiple health insurance options, and a wide range of benefits!
