Forward is Hiring a Regional Safety Manager Near Dallas, TX

Position: Regional Safety Manager

Location: Los Angeles, CA or Dallas, TX preferred

Salary Range: $75,000-85,000

Job Description:

The Regional Safety Manager will utilize their knowledge of FMCSA’s Compliance, Safety and Accountability (CSA) Program, DOT, and OSHA Regulatory requirements to provide support to all Forward Air terminal locations. The Regional Safety Manager will be able to draw on tactical and strategic initiatives; and establish/maintain effective working relationship with Terminal Management, Drivers, Independent Contractors, and Customers. This position reports directly to the Director of Safety.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards
  • Increase employee safety awareness by providing comprehensive and consistent training (both regulatory and company mandated)
  • Coordinate safety activities and training to ensure implementation of safety awareness programs throughout the regions
  • Facilitate communication and cooperation between management and employees on safety issues
  • Provide direction on safety programs and procedures based on organizational goals and policies
  • Generate reports for management review, identifying issues and reporting results 
  • Create, monitor and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct accident Investigations
  • Attend Safety seminars to stay current with FMCSA and OSHA Rules and Regulations
  • Ensure all facilities meet conformance with all corporate, state and federal safety and health standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulatory requirements as it relates to the transportation industry
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion and meet various variable deadlines
  • Work in a confidential capacity
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and managers
  • Desire for a long-term career with an industry leading company
  • Ability to present and maintain a positive corporate image in a fast paced environment
  • Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products including; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Must be able to travel exclusively throughout assigned region
  • Experience leading, training and developing Safety awareness in a group of employees
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule 

Skills:

  • Ideal candidate will possess a “can do" attitude with a “will do" work ethic
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with AS400 operating systems is a plus
  • Transportation industry knowledge and experience is a plus
