Summary: Assumes the daily organizational management of the quality and patient safety program that is focused on reducing variation, reducing risk and improving quality. Using a data-driven approach, identifies opportunities for risk mitigation as well as improvements that are aligned with ongoing strategic initiatives. Duties may include supervision of: quality improvement projects/teams, adverse event investigations including patient complaints / grievance investigations and/or safety culture initiatives. Maintains the event reporting system and associated data in collaboration with Data Intelligence Group (DIG). Uses event reporting data to track and monitor trends across the organization for improvement. Collects, reviews, and analyzes data from a variety of sources (event reports, benchmarking, etc.) to identify opportunities for improvement from a quality and/or patient safety standpoint. Manages Quality and Patient Safety staff in their day-to-day performance. Ensures project, investigation, department timelines, and goals are met. Works collaboratively with Accreditation, Legal /Risk, Infection Prevention and Control, as well as other departments and leaders to ensure effectiveness of overall quality program. Responsibilities:
Accountable for the Quality and Patient Safety program
Has detailed understanding and can skillfully use the techniques of system design, reengineering, project management, data driven quality improvement science, outcomes measurement, and statistical analysis.
Systematically applies and teaches the science of quality improvement, safety, and project management to achieve results on time and within budget. Is results and outcomes oriented.
Has detailed understanding of cause analysis methodology for all event investigation types.
Manages the organizational safety culture program.
Collaborates with organizational leaders to improve scores on all quality and patient safety indicators.
Interprets and presents findings from work teams to appropriate committees of the hospital and medical staff.
- Assures that improvement and patient safety activities are documented and reported within the organization and externally as appropriate.
How You’ll Be Successful: WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 7 years' Experience in a healthcare or clinical environment Req
At least 5 years Leadership experience or equivalent Pref
EDUCATION
Four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Req
Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Pref
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Registered Nurse Pref
Professional certification in healthcare Quality /Patient Safety 1 Year Pref
