Forest Hills Baptist Church (Nashville / Brentwood, TN) is hiring a Finance Director who will be responsible for the overall financial operations of the church. This includes but isn't limited to accounting functions, payroll, financial planning, and tax and risk management.

The Finance Director will be asked to provide guidance on strategic financial issues and to help develop and implement funding strategies for the church.

This person will report to the Executive Pastor and will interact regularly with the Senior Pastor and other members of the church staff, the church’s Board of Elders, and the church’s Finance Committee.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS

• Manage all aspects of financial reporting to church leadership and the church's Finance Committee
• Manage all aspects of internal financial controls to assure accurate financial information and safeguarding of all financial assets
• Lead development of Annual Budget Process and present to church leadership and the church's Finance Committee
• Manage all aspects of payroll and employee benefits administration
• Supervise Accounts Payable clerk and review, approve, and sign all check and ACH disbursements on a weekly basis within dollar amounts established by church leadership and the church's Finance Committee
• Ensure that cash and checks are recorded and deposited on a timely basis
• Manage on a timely basis the weekly contributions records and communicate summary to church leadership and the church's Finance Committee
• Reconcile all bank accounts monthly
• Maintain sufficient financial systems, processes, and controls over ancillary ministries such as food services, weddings and funerals, Mother’s Day Out, and other special events
• Oversee preparation of all tax returns, corporate reports, SBC filings, and other regulatory filings
• Serve as primary link to banks, insurance companies, and other third-party service suppliers
• Ensure that all IT systems are functioning as designed, responsive to the needs of Church Leadership, and are adequately secure and backed-up
• Manage all on-boarding activities to ensure I-9, W-4, direct deposit documents, and benefit elections are secured
• Maintain all HR Files that document salary history, compensation adjustments, annual reviews, and paid time off records
• Manage all FHBC issued credit cards and ensure that policies and procedures for travel and entertainment are adhered to and that expenses are adequately supported as necessary
• Manage petty cash fund

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
• 5 years of experience providing an organization or business with accounting and fundamental controller functions — preferably for a non-profit or church of like size or larger
• Be a Bible-believing Christian who demonstrates the Fruit of the Spirit and is growing in their faith
• Be in agreement with Forest Hills Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith (see org/bylaws) and identify closely with the vision, mission, and values of the church
