Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition
Position: Finance Director
Full Time Exempt Position, Based in Nashville. Reports to the Senior Operations Director.

ABOUT TIRRC
The Tennessee Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) is a statewide, immigrant and refugee-led
collaboration. Our mission is to build power, amplify our voices, and organize communities to advocate for
our rights. Our vision is a stronger, more inclusive Tennessee where people of all nationalities, immigration
statuses, and racial identities can belong and thrive. TIRRC has an affiliated entity, TIRRC Votes, a separate,
but related, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the
Internal Revenue Code. Although TIRRC and TIRRC Votes share a common goal of building power for
immigrants and refugees in Tennessee, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. A
set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between
the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits.

ABOUT THE POSITION
TIRRC is seeking an experienced finance leader to drive strategy for the organization’s long-term
sustainability and manage all financial administration, business planning, regulatory compliance, and
budgeting with support from the internal finance team. This position will work closely with the senior
leadership team and finance committee of the Board of Directors to set financial policy and direction in order
to ensure TIRRC’s financial future.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management
Oversee budgeting and financial forecasting for TIRRC and its affiliated 501(c)4, TIRRC Votes,

including but not limited to:
  • Building and managing organizational budget and its implementation;
  • Coordinate team budgets and monitor progress;
  • Monitor cash flow and oversee cash flow planning;
  • Oversee investments, and asset management;
  • Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships;
  • Coordinate all audit activities;
  • Oversee compliance regarding subrecipient awards including financial monitoring and reporting

system.

Financial Planning and Strategy
Develop multi-year financial plans and forecasts;
  • Review and approve preparation and finalization of internal financial reports for management and
board;
  • Engage the Board finance committee to develop short, medium, and long-term financial plans and
projections;
  • Represent TIRRC to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, auditors, etc.;
  • Remain up to date on nonprofit audit best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit

operations.

Administration and Accounting
Serve as a business partner to the Executive Director and Senior Operations Director on the

organization’s financial, budgeting, and administrative processes including HR, payroll, and benefits
functions, which an eye to continuously developing and improving systems;

  • Manage finance team; hire and retain support staff as needed in the future;
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures;
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for federal and

state funders, foundations, and the Board of Directors of TIRRC and TIRRC’s affiliated 501(c)4,
TIRRC Votes;

  • Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns;
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed above. As with every position at TIRRC, every

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Belief in TIRRC’s mission and experience with social justice;
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, with at least 5 years experience

in a financial management role, preferably in a nonprofit organization with a budget of at least $2
million;

  • Experience with GAAS rules, nonprofit audits, compliance, and reporting preferred;
  • Excellent skills in communication with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and
dynamic team;
  • Fluency in English required, fluency in an additional language preferred;
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
  • Must have reliable transportation.

SALARY AND BENEFITS PACKAGE:
Salary Range: $70,000-80,000
Benefits: Full-time TIRRC employees are eligible to receive medical, dental, and vision insurance with 100%
of the medical employee premium covered by TIRRC, participate in a 401K retirement plan, and receive 24/7
access to an Employee Assistance Program. In addition, TIRRC provides paid leave including up to 15
vacation days, 15 paid holidays, and 3 weeks paid sick leave in an employee’s first year and 6 weeks of paid
parental leave.
