We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to fill a position in our VA Beach office. In addition to the requisite experience, the ideal candidate will be incredibly organized, be able to prioritize tasks, consistently meet deadlines, and possess proven customer service skills. This is an in-person position, so qualified candidates must be able to commute to our VA Beach office.
Responsibilities:
· Organize, properly index, and analyze medical records and other file materials. Maintain physical and electronic files for each assigned matter.
· Provide status reports and recommendations to attorneys in preparation for and throughout all stages of litigation.
· Carry a caseload of approximately 40 – 60 active files and work with multiple attorneys, who are sometimes located in other offices/remote.
· Draft substantive correspondence to clients/other parties/courts, answers to discovery, and various pleadings.
· Maintain attorney calendars including scheduling depositions, phone calls, and mediations.
Experience & Qualifications:
· College degree or equivalent work experience in a law firm.
· At least 2 years as a paralegal or legal assistant with comparable job responsibilities, preferably in workers’ compensation/insurance defense.
· Experience keeping and timely entering billable hours on a monthly basis strongly preferred.
· Practical knowledge of timekeeping software such as Juris preferred.
· Must be proficient in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

Paralegal
Duties:
- Assist attorneys in all stages of litigation, including drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, and preparing for trial
- Manage and organize case files, including indexing and filing documents
- Conduct document review and analysis, identifying relevant information and preparing summaries
- Utilize legal research tools such as Westlaw to gather information and support case strategies
- Coordinate with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel to schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances
- Prepare legal correspondence, pleadings, and discovery requests
- Maintain confidentiality of client information and adhere to ethical standards
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant
- Proficient in legal case management software and document management systems
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
- Excellent research skills with the ability to analyze complex legal issues
- Familiarity with Westlaw or other legal research databases
- Strong administrative skills, including organization and time management
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively
- Professional phone etiquette and interpersonal skills for client interactions
- Experience conducting interviews with clients or witnesses is a plus
