Job Description
The Staff Accountant (SA) position is an integral part of our organization's accounting team. This position requires a self-starter, multi-tasker, and an excellent communicator, written and oral. The SA understands and manages the grant/government billing process and collections, completes payroll and cash journal entries, and prepares balance sheet reconciliations and schedules. This position will also support documentation of processes and provides recommendation to promote effectiveness and efficiency. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.

• Prepares journal entries to include accounts receivables, payroll, investments, etc.
• Assists with preparing cash/check deposits and recording of transactions
• Responsible for account receivable collections
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with partners, internal and external
• Completes assigned month-end close task to include monthly reconciliations
• Completes assigned year-end audit task or responsibilities
• Assist with financial analysis
• Assist with fiscal reporting and fiscal management of grants
• Documents processes for cross training and/or succession planning
• Provides recommendations to improve internal controls, financial accuracy and transparency
• Assists with ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
• Completes other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, minimum of 5 years of experience, preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in not-for-profit sector, preferred
• Demonstrate strong understanding of GAPP and fund accounting
• Demonstrate innovation and efficiency
• Experience with accounting software, at least 3 preferred
• Strong excel skills (hlookups, vlookups, sumifs , if statements, graphs, etc.)
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
