Job Summary
Exegy seeks a dynamic, detail-oriented, organized self-starter to join our Finance department. The Senior Accountant supports management, as needed, by performing accounting functions, including but not limited to revenue recognition, accounts receivable, general ledger account reconciliations, and special projects.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand various service/product offerings and revenue streams to ensure proper revenue recognition.
- Prepare weekly cash management and payables reporting
- Perform revenue cost accounting and reporting activities on a monthly basis.
- Perform month-end account reconciliations.
- Perform inventory management
- Resolve revenue related issues and follow-up on outstanding items.
- Assist in financial audits and implement audit recommendations.
- Review and recommend improvements to current revenue recognition strategies.
- Prepare documentation for all revenue related activities.
- Research sales tax laws and regulations as needed.
- Communicate effectively with staff as well as the various departments that play a role in the billing and revenue recognition functions.
- Inform and educate other business areas as to the financial impact of potential business decisions they are responsible for making.
- Prepare and submit compliance reporting and filings
- Use tax, business licenses, annual reports/filings, etc.
Qualifications
- 4-year accounting or related degree preferred
- 7 years of accounting experience
- Must be self-motivated, flexible, deadline-oriented and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Acute attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to effectively interact with senior management and individuals with varying degrees of financial knowledge
- Demonstrated advanced experience with accounting and spread sheet software, especially Excel
