About Us:

Evelyn Hill Inc. provides leading hospitality services at the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island in New York, the Gateway Arch, and Fort McHenry National Monuments.

We are celebrating our 92nd anniversary, making us the oldest family-owned, exclusive concessionaire for the National Park Service.

We proudly operate the gift shop and food service at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and are looking for outgoing, friendly people to join our team. We are a family-run business and treat everyone like they are family.

We are open 7 days a week from 9am to 5:15pm off season and 7pm during the peak season. No nights.

What You Should Expect:

The food and beverage department consists of the positions at Crown Café at Liberty Island and Ellis Café at Ellis Island. We are looking for a Food Service Supervisor with a dedication to providing our guests with the most memorable experience.

  • Employees are required to work on peak business days, Friday, Saturday and Sundays.
  • Must take swift action to resolve complaints of guests, inform managers of accidents and potential safety hazards.
  • Operate and sanitize sharp equipment in a safe manner
  • Multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Be a quick-learner as employees are expected to be cross-trained in all aspects of Café operations (server/front-line, kitchen, wash-room, garbage clean up)
  • Support, encourage and respect colleagues, office staff and all visitors
  • Provide courteous, friendly, efficient customer service

Food Service Supervisors' responsibility is to oversee a team of servers, and kitchen employees to ensure that the business is operating efficiently. The following are some of their additional duties:

  • Follow all food safety regulations regarding food preparation, storage, handling, and serving.
  • Provide employees with training in food preparation and safety procedures.
  • Identify and resolve issues by coordinating with managers from other departments, such as marketing, accounting, human resources, and purchasing.
  • Establish employee schedules, including the hiring of new employees when necessary.
  • Regularly inspect the premises for cleanliness and maintenance issues.
  • Ensure that all employees are working efficiently and monitoring their attendance rates.
  • Assess the quality, service, and profitability of individual restaurants or facilities per the standards set by the organization.
  • Enforce food safety and sanitation policies by performing regular inspections of facilities and employees.

Food service supervisors oversee the production of large volumes of food within varying periods. An effective time management strategy involves planning and execution to ensure you and your employees complete all tasks on time.

  • Problem solving

A kitchen environment can be fast-paced, and food service supervisors solve problems and make decisions quickly. The ability to assess a situation and determine the most suitable approach is essential. They may make decisions concerning employee scheduling, customer service interactions, or the quality of the food they're serving.
