ABOUT ESPERANZA ACADEMY

Esperanza means hope. Esperanza Academy Charter School (EACS) is located in the Hunting Park section of North Philadelphia and prides itself on serving the students in the community in which it is located. During the 2022-2023 school year, Esperanza Academy will serve grades: K, 1, 4, 5, and 6-12. Esperanza Academy believes that education can be a vehicle for social and economic progress for marginalized communities. As a result, we are relentless in our pursuit to provide our students with the best educational option in the Philadelphia area. 

Our proven track record of academic success with historically underserved students sets us apart. The Academy has 11th-grade test scores above the city of Philadelphia average and value-added math and reading proficiency growth is among the highest in Pennsylvania. Students graduate at a rate exceeding 90% and drop out at a rate of only 1%.  For seven out of nine years, our high school has been ranked as one of the Best High Schools in the country.

By the fall of 2024, we will have fully expanded to a K-12 school serving over 2,400 students. This expansion will result in Esperanza Academy being the second-largest single charter school in the city of Philadelphia.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Esperanza Academy Charter School is seeking to fill an immediate opportunity for a Financial Operations Coordinator. We seek a task-oriented, organized, resourceful team member who is passionate about supporting positive change in underserved communities. As a member of the shared services team, this individual will serve as an embodiment of the Academy’s values. The Financial Operations Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day functions and financial systems and processes at Esperanza Academy Charter School. These activities include but are not limited to ensuring the accurate recording of 

Esperanza Academy shared services team members:

• Are mission-minded leaders both inside and outside of the school building.
• Understand that building strong relationships with all stakeholders is critical to student achievement.
• Are student-centered, proactive, and maintain a high level of customer service.
• Are able to make decisions that prioritize what is best for our school community.
• Are collaborative team players who believe that their work helps move students forward.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• A passion for education and a belief that your zip code does not dictate your destiny.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in a school finance role. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior experience working in education or a non-profit agency is preferred.
• A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required. (Official transcripts showing the degree conferred are required prior to the starting date of employment.)
• Clearances: All applicants must have current FBI, PA Criminal, and Child Abuse background checks. For more information regarding required clearances please visit the Pennsylvania Department of Education website.

• Spanish fluency is preferred but not required.
