POSITION SUMMARY:

The purchasing agent is responsible for using analytical methods and a variety of tools to understand, predict, improve and support procurement and other projects within the Dallas Lighthouse product lines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Perform procurement support by performing a wide variety of standard and specialized procurement activities through the application of innovative and creative techniques
  • Maintain up to date cost files in ERP System (AX)
  • Ensure all data is accurate and up to date
  • Negotiate, award and administer contract terms and conditions of a highly critical and complex nature while complying with established organizational policies, as well as federal, state and local regulatory agencies
  • Utilize quantitative skills to compile and analyze statistical data in order to support business execution
  • Identify cost savings opportunities
  • Evaluate usage patterns with sales forecast information to establish reorder point levels
  • Calculate and provide forecast information to leadership and suppliers as needed
  • Resolve pricing, quality, quantity and freight discrepancies on any purchases
  • Help implement a system to closely monitor pricing discrepancies
  • Use ERP system to view material movements, quantities on order, and current balance on hand
  • Provide continuous (daily) feedback to manufacturing/production leaders and planner in regards to future needs or back order issues
  • Provide support for special projects within the department by completing assignments, providing historical records and future projections of production schedule
  • Communicate and execute all needed PO changes
  • Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned
  • Work under general supervision

Qualifications


JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred; however, a combination of education and experience wherein the skills and abilities to perform the responsibilities and functions have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable, High School Diploma/GED required.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years previous experience in purchasing, procurement or related work preferred; previous experience in government procurement, contracting and inventory control preferred. Data analysis or cost accounting experience required. Excel experience required. Retail industry purchasing experience a plus.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, most notably Excel, as well as internet usage, business websites and an ERP system (AX preferred).
  • Knowledge of purchasing principles
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles
  • Knowledge of production scheduling principles
  • Knowledge of bill of material principles
  • Knowledge of mathematics
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail ability
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills necessary to work effectively with a variety of individuals and skill levels
  • Working knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Possess a positive work attitude and a willingness to carry out instructions
  • Ability to work independently with periodic consultation and direction
  • Ability to express and share knowledge and ideas in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Effectively interact with internal and external customers, establishing and maintaining productive relationships while representing the mission of Envision.

Licenses/Certifications:

Professional Purchasing Certification such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Professional Purchasing Manager (CPPM) preferred.
