TEWS is Hiring an Employee Relations Specialist Near Orlando, FL

Job DescriptionNonprofit Organization seeks a dynamic Employee Relations Specialist to support operations across multiple Central Florida locations, with occasional presence in Tampa.
Salary: $50,000-$60,000 (based on experience)
Location: After a successful 90 day training timeframe, you will be able to work from home two days a week. The main office is located close to downtown Orlando. There will be consistent traveling within the Orlando area, and some travel between Orlando and Tampa.
Essential Functions:
  • Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations using result-oriented interviewing and documentation techniques in response to a range of employee relations concerns, including discrimination, retaliation, policy violations, EEOC claims, etc.
  • Communicate regularly regarding pending investigations and provides timely investigation reports with supporting documentation.
  • Assists and guides managers in the disciplinary action and termination process.
  • Provides consultation to management to ensure consistent implementation of policies relating to performance and recommends appropriate course of action.
  • Trains supervisors in policies and procedures, positive direction and other topics to ensure consistency.
  • Works with Leaders and the Director of Employee Relations to assist in assessing employee needs and implementing steps that will increase employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Serves as a resource to employees with respect to employee appeals of unresolved problems, discipline situations, and harassment claims.
  • Facilitates orientation for new hires on benefits and policies & procedures.
  • Assists with unemployment claims and hearings as needed.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs.
  • Maintains compliance with employment laws and regulations, recommended best practices and reviews policies and procedures to ensure they are up to date.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law.
  • Manages special projects related to Human Resources as assigned.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all proceedings.
  • All other duties and tasks as assigned.
Education/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required
  • 3-5 years in an HR Generalist type role required
  • Florida Driver’s License with no more than two moving violations in the past three years
  • Able to work in the US and not require Visa Sponsorship from our company now or in the future
  • Expert knowledge of computers and in MS Office Suite – Word, Excel,
  • Access, PowerPoint; HRIS database; working knowledge of all office equipment.
  • Speak effectively in front of small and large groups
  • Prioritize workload and can meet deadlines in a timely manner
