EMSL is Hiring a Summer Laboratory Intern Near Chicago, IL
EMSL is seeking a Part Time Summer Laboratory Intern for its location in Chicago, IL. The laboratory intern assists the lab in both administrative and sample preparation tasks.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Log in samples from all lab divisions.
Receive environmental samples and enter Chain of Custody into LIMS system.
Accept samples from overnight carrier, walk-in customers, FEDEX, UPS and assist as needed.
Handle, sort, count and prioritize incoming environmental samples under laboratory hood.
Inspect samples to ensure sample integrity is retained and packaging is not compromised.
Review paperwork and accurately interpret chain of custody for all incoming samples to ensure completeness and correctness.
Ensure samples are placed in the proper storage area to await analysis.
Other clerical duties to include: emailing, scanning, and faxing documents to clients, answering phones and organizing and ordering supplies. Assist as needed with sample preparation for TEM/PCM, microbiology, and/or lead sample prior to analysis Cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment as needed Assist with other departments to meet business demandsRequirements:
High School degree or equivalent
Associates Degree in Life Science or 2 years of college course work completed preferred but not required.
One to two years of previous academic or commercial lab experience preferred
Must be able to work independently and with a team
Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments
Must have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skillsAvailable Shift:
Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
