The Position

EMPath invites eligible applicants to apply for the Associate Vice President of Housing Programs and Operations

Salary: 110,000-$140,000 USD annually.

Hours: Monday- Friday, 9am-5pm. Some weekends and evenings may be required.

Reports to: Senior VP/COO

Responsibilities:

EMPath seeks a dependable strategic manager to lead its Housing Programs and Operations

  • Provide pro-active leadership and rigorously manage the Housing and Operations team.
  • Provide direct supervision for 3 Housing and Operations AVPs and 3 directors.
  • In collaboration with AVPs and directors, develop and monitor workplans to establish benchmarks and assess housing placement processes and outcomes.
  • Responsible for the successful operations of four shelter sites, including 2 congregant, 1 co-shelter, and scattered-site units alongside Housing Placement and Stabilization goals.
  • Achieve EMPath targets and grow Mobility Mentoring® capacity and staff career ladders.
  • Seek additional funding to supplement rehousing efforts and complement participant rehousing, career advancement, and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Provide strategic budgetary guidance (in alignment with contract)
  • Periodically review Apricot and ETO ASIST to monitor and improve mentor/participant engagement.
  • Meet weekly with the SVP/COO, communicate periodically with Executive Team; periodically report to the Program Committee of the Board, and confer with the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC) to sustain compliance with state contract.
  • Engage directly with Housing Placement to ensure success in housing placement goals.
  • Use outcomes and processes data for continuous improvement in both optimal participant outcomes and optimal coaching processes.
  • Harness and facilitate collaborative problem solving in weekly staff conferrals.
  • Proactively establish collaborative leadership and consequential agenda setting
  • Manage budgets in alignment with optimal and efficient staffing patterns.
  • Exercise due diligence in contract management and state/federal relations
  • Work with landlords and contractors to achieve physical safety and cleanliness of units across all sites.
  • Lead efforts and create systems to manage repairs across an array of landlord tenant scenarios.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will demonstrate daily accountability, compassion, active mentorship of management team, and create and sustain a cross-program climate of professionalism and continuous improvement.

  • At least four continuous years of successful leadership at associate vice president level or above, with successful supervision of at least four direct reports, at the director’s level or above in housing search, case management, direct care, congregant health and safety
  • A record of collaborating respectfully with a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn and model economic mobility coaching preferred.
  • Advanced skills in developing staffing patterns and rotation plans to meet 24/7 congregant and co-shelter needs and rehousing outcome expectations.
  • Facile in the knowledge and translation of science into practice (to help evolve coaching tools and strengthen participants’ outcomes).
  • High emotional intelligence required.
  • Active team building, goal-achievement, and strategic on-site critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical capacity
  • Adaptable
  • Knowledge of how to identify and remediate pain points in-stream.
  • Highly collaborative
  • PC Literacy with extensive knowledge of Excel
  • Bilingual proficiency preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in human services, non-profit management, or related fields such as public administration or equivalent experience required. The MA in Management is preferred.

    Working Conditions:

    Requires walking, sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Work may be stressful at times. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and participants. Ability to travel around Boston in personal car or public transit. Work is performed in an office environment.
