Position Summary
The Store Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the retail grocery stores ensuring that standards set forth by the company are achieved and federal, state, and local legal requirements are met. This person will provide leadership and be responsible for departmental direction including, but not limited to, hiring, training, and developing employees creating a positive, enjoyable, and safe work environment while ensuring compliance with all of Eddie’s of Roland Park policies and procedures. He/she will be responsible for maximizing sales, profitability, and growth objectives, while managing expenses and inventory with a focus on loss prevention. The Store Manager will be responsible for food safety standards, achieving and maintaining excellent store conditions, and the provision of excellent customer service to ensure an enjoyable and satisfying shopping experience for customers. This is a full-time position; must be available evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Tasks & Responsibilities
· Supervise the daily operation of all departments and hold department managers accountable for sales, expenses, inventory, and shrink.
· Protect company property, secure company assets, and assume responsibility for all cash handling and accounting transactions.
· Review profit/loss statements with management and convey expectations to department managers at regularly scheduled meetings.
· Work with Marketing Department to direct merchandising and sales promotions encouraging creativity, the development of new ideas, and recommendations to increase store performance.
· Coordinate logistics of store events.
· Oversee the purchasing and delivery of merchandise and supplies ensuring food safety and certification, sanitation, and quality control.
· Keep up-to-date with industry products, standards, and trends.
· Hire management and staff and ensure they are thoroughly oriented and trained.
· Set and standardize performance expectations; measure productivity; foster an environment of teamwork; provide encouragement; identify and provide training and developmental opportunities for management and staff; conduct performance evaluations; and manage succession planning.
· Manage effective departmental scheduling.
· Resolve employee issues and participate in investigations.
· Provide operations back-up to store managers when necessary.
· Maintain effective contact with employees at all levels in the organization involved in store operations.
· Ensure payroll is submitted accurately and timely for all store employees.
· Ensure customers are treated professionally, courteously, and in a timely manner to maintain the highest level of customer service standards and reinforce value and commitment to the community.
· Report employee injuries and customer incidents immediately and in accordance with company policy and procedure.
· Comply with federal (OSHA) and state (MOSH) health and safety regulations and safe work practices, reporting of any defects immediately to management.
· Ensure all federal, state, and local legal requirements are met.
· All other duties as assigned or required.
Experience:
· ten plus (10 ) years of retail grocery supervisory and/or management experience.
Knowledge/Skills:
· Comprehensive knowledge of grocery and retail management including, but not limited to, fresh departments, meat, seafood, bakery, deli, produce, cheese, and salad bar.
· Comprehensive knowledge of employee safety and health and food safety.
· Strong supervisory skills.
· Ability to hire, train, and develop workforce.
· Excellent motivational skills to build strong, cohesive, and productive teams.
· Outstanding leadership skills and ability to assess productivity and influence outcome.
· Strong operational skills and superior understanding of departmental function and design.
